Hi Friends:

I recently overtightened, and cracked, the P-Trap slip nut on the PVC pipe under our kitchen sink. A move somwhere between Dopey and Goofy...

Quick question... How do I restore my Hakuna Matata? Are there slip nuts designed for replacement needs as this? Is a whole new P-Trap assembly necessary?

Thanks in advance,

Ptraps are cheap.......run out to home depot and grab a new one- maybe 15 bucks

Sounds like just buying a slip nut is not an option... I would like to do that as the other end of the P-Trap does not have a slip nut, it has a couple of things attched to it before the compression nut goes on that end...

Darn.

I guess you probably could, home depot might have them. But it might be not only cheaper, but easier to just replace it. If it cracked because of age, it would be in your benefit to change it all out.

No advice, but am I the only person who thought she was talking about a broken copy of "The Parent Trap" on VHS?

LOL. Nope, but all I read was "Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah", kind of like when DH talks about repairs on the car. :teeth: My eyes just kind of glaze over. Sorry honey, not a clue. :rotfl:

For those interested (which may just be me at this point), I did buy a slip nut at Home Depot and worked it over the existing P-Trap flange. Tightened it up (with teflon tape) and all is flowing smoothly, but for what seems like a drop or two leak from that joint. The leak appears when i fill the sink and let the water go; under more traditional operation, it appears drip-free.

Have a good weekend to all.

Take care,
