Crack in Carowinds coaster- 😳

I like that Fury 325 starts in North Carolina, crosses into South Carolina, then returns to NC.

Some of the comments on other stories are ridiculous overreactions. “OMG, we just rode it the day before! We could have been killed!!!”

I saw an article that had collected various pictures that users had submitted -- people who had just taken photos of the ride for whatever reason and then zoomed in once they heard about the crack. The first one is from 6/24 and you can clearly see the beginnings of the crack. Then on 6/29 it's spread across the support and then 6/30 it's broken. So I don't really trust that Carowinds is doing as many "daily inspections" as they said in their press release. Seems like a big thing to miss.

Oh my! It went a week before it was caught. I agree, doesn’t seem like they were doing very good inspections.

Yikes!

That’s a Cedar Fair park, and we go to those regularly. 😳 Surprised and disappointed this was missed.

I know at Cedar Point and Kings Island they have inspections prior to opening and during business hours (at Kings island I’ve had it repeatedly done on different rides around 2pm) as safety check. I cannot fathom how someone missed this, which sounds like had been festering for days. Complacency? That can’t happen when it comes to safety. :sad2:

Just thankful it was caught before a catastrophe. But still - whomever is head of safety at that park has serious explaining to do.

The last time I was at Six Flags over Georgia it was obvious that teenagers were running the park. I bet Carowinds is the same.

I imagine the daily inspections are being done by a 17 year old hired for the summer. Maybe an 18 year old back for their second summer.

SO scary!! Pretty much anywhere with rides but Disney and Universal make me nervous. Glad someone spotted it before something horrible happened.

They all make me nervous, but at least most of Disney's are tame rides that likely wouldn't cause much harm.
