We are travelling March 25th-April 1st. We have 2 adults and 3 small kids. We have offsite accomodations for March 25th-March 28th. We are looking for a hotel for March 28th-April 1st. My choices are POR or CR standard wing room. The WL only had deluxe rooms available at that time.

I know the conveinence of walking to MK and the monorail are plus's. But, with the current rehab going on, is it worth the $ for a standard wing room?

Well, those are two of my favorite resorts. The new rooms at the CR are in the South Wing...don't know when they are being opened up. They do look nice though. We stayed in the North Wing in '04 and loved it. We were on the ground floor level, about half way around the bldg. It was wonderful being able to walk to MK, or take the monorail to TTC to grab the Epcot line. We loved the restuarant choices also. And considering that we got there the same day that Hurricane Charlie did, I think it was a great place.
I do love POR though. It has terrific theming. The pools are wonderful. I haven't found the transportation to be a problem. I know others have had issues with it, but I haven't. The food court is good sized and there is Boatwrights in case you really are in the mood for table service dining.
We have stayed in both sections....Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend. Loved them both...purely a personnal choice as to which is nicer.
IF you have the funds to do CR, then I would go with it. But I wouldn't put myself in hock in order to stay there. POR is a nice alternative. Not much help I guess!!

With little kids, the convenience from CR to the MK cannot be beat.

I agree I love CR one of my favorite we have only ever stayed in the wings but with small children it is so easy to just walk to MK. once oyu do it your never want to get on a bus again.
Especially if you stay for wishes and you see all the people in line waiting on a bus

That's what happened to us. Now we can't imagine not being able to walk to MK and hop back to CR on the monorail. You can't beat the convenience! If you have the funds, it is DEFINITELY worth it! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

We are going the same week as you. We have 5 people in our family and are trying to decide between CR wing and D/S. Dolphin just came out this week with really nice rates. As a teacher, I can get a $175 rate. They also have AAA rates and other discounts. We could save over $100 a night if we choose the Dolphin. That's almost like getting most our food included. It may be hard to pass up if Disney doesn't offer a better deal.

I really don't like the Contemporary. So, I'd vote for the moderate. But if WL becomes available, and you can easily swing it, I'd do that.

We love the CR and love the convience to MK. With 3 children I would definately stay there. Its so nice to be able to walk to MK or roll the stroller onto the monorail and off again without having to get the child out. We think the CR rocks!!

You don't say how small the kids are, but one advantage to CR is that there are beds for 5. It is possible that one of your kids is still in a crib, but if not there are a limited number of rooms at POR that have a trundle bed. The other rooms only have beds for 4.
