We are planning to stay at the CR this June. We have two children, one age 9, and the other is 2 (will almost be 3 when we go).

We absolutely loved the pool at the Polynesian last year. The zero-entry was wonderful for both girls. The younger one could play at the shallow end while the older one played a little farther out.

We are also staying at the BWV's but don't have much time set aside for swimming while we are there, so not having a zero entry pool isn't important there. However, we do plan on 3 swim days while at CR.

Will I be disappointed in the pool at CR? Will I be able to watch and play with both children at the same time?

My 9 year old is a weak swimmer, so she won't go far without me.

We would return to the Poly, except we were really disappointed in the room. We got a second floor without a balcony and our room did have an odor in it. Which put a damper on the whole stay :(. Plus, we all really liked the CR when we visited.

What would you do?

Thanks!

Teresa

I have two young sons and we have stayed at the CR 3 times in the past 4 years. I stopped going to the CR for some of the reasons you are asking about. The pool area does NOT have a zero entry area. The area around the pool seams tired and worn, the slide was showing signs of wear and rust. It just did not feel like a deluxe resort pool area to us. Last year we stayed at the Yacht Club and LOVED the pool area. It has a zero entry area and is perfect for all types of swimmers. BUT it was to far from the MK,which is our favorite park. I originally had a reservation for this May at the Poly but for exactly the reason that you mentioned and I have read, smell and in need of updates, I cancelled. So this year we are staying at the GF, it has a new pool area with a zero entry and from what I've read a great new slide that is similar to the Poly. I hope this helps.

Your post was very helpful! Thank you!

We visited the GF and though we thought it was beautiful, DH told me directly that he had no desire to stay there :(. He felt it was too "formal".

We walked by both of their pools and I thought the new one looked identical to the Poly's, so you should love it!

Have a wonderful trip!

Well try the Yacht or Beach Club, It has everything in the pool area you need and not as formal as the GF. Good Luck

DH told me last night he would consider the GF, so I guess I'll do a little research on it just in case!

We definitely want to stay on the monorail to be close to the MK.

Thanks :).

I just returned from a trip with a four year old (strong swimmer) and 1 year old at the CR-I'm not sure I would suggest it for the pool. your older child will be able to touch bottom in most of the play pool, which is good, and can do the slide, but the baby will have to be held the whole time, which can be difficult to do. either way, i'm sure you'll have fun.
