I know this won't stop the rumors, but last night I had the opportunity to speak with a DVC Mgr who confirmed the CR DVC resort is a no-go. He said they had been considering it, but did not proceed.

In fact, the whole new tower they were going to build has been cancelled.

There will not be any new building, and there will not be a DVC resort at the CR at this time.

He also confirmed that the AKV DVC units going into the AKL building are because of all the slow activity there. He quoted the choices concerning CR and the AKV as all being 'money' issues.

Just FYI

I consider this a reliable source. He knew I was a moderator on this board, is well aware of the DISboards, and said OK to post this info.

This is consistent with the info I received from my contact. Decision was primarily money. STOL is still alive (last I talked to her).

LOL, I just posted about the MS special event tomorrow. Guess it is not CRV after all. Oh, well. :confused3 :confused3

Thanks for the information, but I really hate to hear that. I have been hoping for a DVC at the CR and had already convinced DH to add on for those points. Oh well.

I stayed in the tower last week and we had a Bay lake view but on the side of the North wing. It looked as if a typical remodel was going on all week and I figured there would be no North wing DVC conversion.

However the STOL had lots of digging activity that had me curious. I know many others have seen it as well.

Not surprised. Thanks for sharing.

Personally I think this is a pretty strong indicator that Disneyland will be the next destination. Between what's left at SSR, announced AKV and a project at Disneyland, they would be flush with points well through the end of the decade.

No matter how in-demand points at CR might be, the timing just doesn't seem right.

Interesting since I've seen reports that there is actual earth-moving occurring at the STOL site. Sounds like that situation is worth keeping an eye on.

I really hope this is true. I hope DVC keeps building themed resorts instead of going to a Miami high rise Condo approach that the Contemporary DVC would have been. Even though I am not big on a DVC at AKL, no one can claim that it will not be well themed.

what is the reason for the rack court and tennis court to be closed then?

Yes I believe also that a present time no DVC at the Cont.

but I still want to know why they closed the rack court and tennis court.

there are pictures over on the resort boards with the closed sign up at these places.

I feel badly for those folks hoping for a CRV. Although it wouldn't have been an add-on for us, it would have been fun to occasionally be at a monorail resort for a few days.
I can see where TPTB would make the business decision to go with AKV for right now. It'll certainly increase capacity there! Even though it's "far from everything" to some people, there's so much unique resort theming. It would appeal to a similar market as a CRV, or WLV and the Epcot DVCs (families w/kids), plus still appeal to those who like the quieter resorts, such as SSR and OKW. :goodvibes

I think its a Christmas Party!

   I REALLY want a DVC at the Contemporary! The STOL location would be good too, but you can't beat that walk to the MK!

Caskbill, did he happen to confirm what I have been saying from my sources that the North Wing is going to get a rehab similar to the South Wing and that all that is going on there now is absestos removal and rehab.

Boy, that's really depressing news. After our stay at the Contemporary in a Tower Magic Kingdom view room this October, we were all set to add on at CRV whenever it was announced. :sad2: Maybe we'll just buy more Boardwalk points and call it a day!

Happy Holidays!

Why did they close the tennis courts and move the pro to GF? It seems like a regular renovation would have allowed the sports facility at CR to stay open. Instead they have subtracted from what's available at the resort? Seems odd. Thanks for sharing your information though.

When we were picked up for a tour at Saratoga Springs the man that drove us back and forth told us that the next DVC will be at the Contemporary, after Animal Kingdom. He also said that he believed that they would work on a fifth park which would be more of an amusement park. I truly thought that these were both definite things. Rumors in my opinion.

I honestly believe that some CMs get sick pleasure out of seeing how far, something that they say, goes. But, then again, speculation is always fun...this just adds spice.

Ah, the conspiracy zealots will claim that this manager used you to spread disinformation!! They figure they can use the DIS Boards to squash the CRV rumors so we'll all buy AKV points...and then spring CRV on us later and claim that it "just occurred to them"! :rolleyes1

That's my conspiracy and I'm sticking to it!! :teeth:
