We had dinner at CA Grille for our final night this trip and I was able to get some photos of the ongoing construction. (You can click on any photo for a larger view.)

As you approach the CR walking from MK, it's obvious some rehab is taking place on the 4th floor monorail access opening.

From the 4th floor deck, there is a good view of the construction site. The huge cranes being used and much taller than the CR itself - lending credence to the reported height of the addition being built.

Also obvious are the piling support foundations for the walkway that will connect the new structure with the existing Tower at the level of the 4th floor.

On the 4th floor observation deck there are contruction survey markings indicating the location of the walkway and bridge. The markings are noted as "Centerline - Hallway to Hotel" and "Centerline - Bridge".

From the 14th floor observation deck - accessible via the CA Grille - we get a nice overview of the entire project. The circular "C" shape is pretty obvious as is the intended path for the walkway access between the two structures.

The construction of the second floor appears to be taking shape and the opposite side of the "C" continues to grow.

The piling foundation work for the walkway now extends from the new construction all the way to the concrete patio at the base of the CR. You can see the 4th floor deck in these photos.

Regardless what type of accommodations are being built, there will be some great views from the structure. Of course, MK is a favorite, but the views of Bay Lake and even the view towards Epcot, MGM and AK are also spectacular.

We had another wonderful meal at the CA Grille. When we arrived there was a window table available in the lounge, so we decided to have our dinner right there. The filet was delicious and we also had one of our favorite servers - Karl. The view from our table was spectacular - especially as the sun began to set. All of these remaining photos were taken right from our table.

Enjoy! :)

Thank you for posting those photos....and especially for the text! It's nice that you took the time to do that. :goodvibes

What wonderful pictures - it is so easy to see the C shape.

We ate at the CG for the first time on our last trip - had the good fortune to be near a window and had a great view of Wishes. That said, I think I'd like eating there for sunset even better. Have to see if we can work it in later this month.

Thanks again for sharing the pictures with us!

Excellent pictures! Thank you! I just  looking at the pictures of the construction and ALL VIEWS from the CR.

Thanks for sharing.

When I first began seeing pictures of construction, it didn't look big enough. Now I have seen them in person which helps and now you can begin to see the scope based on the relative size compared to the various construction vehicles in these pictures.

I think the highlight is the preparation work that will connect the new building to the old. It seems like more confirmation the architectural drawings are what is being built.

Great report Doc thaks a bunch.

Didn't think I would be interested in CRV but now that it looks like it's coming I'm rethinking just for the views alone.

Very cool.... Things are really taking shape now. Thanks for the pics and explanations.

Doc, you're awesome!! Thank you so much for posting these pics and adding the commentary.

I was just at WDW 10/5-10/13 and visited AKL to see what it looked like in person. I approached the DVC person in the lobby (her name was Carol) because I wanted some info about the AKV models at SSR. She asked if I was excited about DVC Hawaii. I said, yes but not as excited as I will be when CRV is officially announced. She gave me this look like, "you poor child." Then she went on with the speech about it not being a DVC @ Contemporary. That's she worked for Disney a long time and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Then to add insult to injury, I was riding on the monorail and passed the construction site. I pointed out to my sister that hopefully this was going to be CRV. She goes, "I don't know, it looks kind of small to be a DVC".

What is with all these people trying to crush my CRV dream??!!! LOL!!

I won't let them bring me down. I'll keep holding on to hope until an official announcement is made one way or the other.

There is no question that it is going to be some level of accomodation... I would imagine that either way, there will be 'some' form of DVC in that new building...

understand completely.

hoping to for a CRV!!! but don't expect any annoucement until May, 2008 - might be later. but someone else mentioned that day.

boy we are going to disappointed if this is a CR suites. but then Disney would be breaking their promise to the stockholders - no new hotels. I know this is not a new hotel - but definitely it would be new hotel rooms.

guess I need to find (if I can) the exact wording.

the plans showed a 3-bedroom GV and DVC is the only one that even has that!!!

I was at MGM last week, and I got into a conversation with a Dream Team member, who was getting us on Star Tours with no wait. He asked if we had been to disney before, and when I said I was a DVC member at Saratoga Springs, he asked me if I was going to stay with Saratoga, or sell for one of the new resorts, AKV or Contemporary. I was shocked, but he seemed very matter of fact that there was a new DVC at Contemporary. Keep your fingers crossed.

Wow Doc, that is one of the most comprehensive writeups I've seen. Great job!

I was not sure about buying CRV and was looking at a new fractional condo in Bermuda where I honeymooned.

The cost of a 1/10 ownership in a 2 bedroom was $340,000 plus the Bermuda licencing fee for aliens (U.S) resulting in a total fee of $410,000 plus $10,000 year maintenance and $250 per week gratuity when there. On top of that we (Americans) really cannot get financing and have to pay cash.

CRV - what a bargain by comparison!!!!

Great pics and narrative.

Uh, but Doc, may I humbly suggest a better vantage point for you on your next visit?

Specifically, inside one of the construction trailers on site - so that you might get a nice snapshot or two of the blueprints!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the pix! It has come along since we were at the CR in August!:)

FWIW, here's a pic I snapped from the monorail this past weekend. They had added to the construction of the ground floor since I first saw it the week before (Monday Oct 8 to be exact).

Great pictures, thanks for posting -- especially the pilings for the walkway -- it's really starting to take shape now :cool1:

Gee what a bargain...only $4m for a 2 bedroom condo if you buy all 10 shares.

I just got some bad news. They are not building a DVC. They are building a Stonehedge Monument. :cool1:
