My husband and I switched cars since he is going to be commuting to his new job in Washington and needed a more fuel effiecient car. One problem, his 4 wheel drive pig doesn't have an outside antenna. See, it's built into the rear side windshield. So, where is my Captain Mickey antenna topper to go? It had a great place on my diesel Jetta, but on this gas guzzler pig there isn't a place to be found.

Have you ever seen one of those passive repeater antennas for the wireless phones? We looked all over the place; Best Buy, CompUSA, Staples, but today I looked in Target and found one for $12.99 . The antenna is about a 12 inches, so it works perfectly for my Captain Mickey Antenna Topper. You could say that it's the antenna topper that makes the car.

I put a small staple in the his hat with a ribbon attached and hang it from the rearview mirror!!!

We have a Subaru Forester. They have the antenna built in to a rear side window.

The Answer?

Go into a place that sells car acessories, and they'll have a 'fake' stick on car phone antenna, You'll find it with all the unusual car acessories like the chrome and gold double wipers and such.

We put one on each side on the inside of the window - they're short enough , and now we have a safe place to display 'em!

ReadyForDisney2003,

We lived in Columbia for 11 yrs and moved just outside of Columbia in Clarksville since 1998. Our development is so close to Columbia "as the crow flies", but since we don't pay CPRA taxes, we don't have any of the park paths that connect everything together. The development entrances are far apart, but our backyards and open space back to each other and are seperated by a stream. Good luck trying to get on the Columbia path from our neighborhood. I guess, that was the point. LOL! We really like this area. Not too conjested, but close to Washington and Baltimore and Clarksville has lots of farms and houses on big lots. Though, not our neighborhood! LOL!

Finally, during the last 7 years, we've been getting lots of nice big retail shopping centers. The Rouse company figured that out that 100,000 people like the big chains besides the mall and small local shopping centers. Things like Best Buy, Target, Staples, CompUSA, JoAnn Etc, Michaels Crafts, Dicks Sporting Goods, Home Depot, Expo Design Center, Petsmart, BJ Warehouse Club... .

We'll be on the same cruise, too!!!

Tina :)

Thanks for responding. Yes, my parents bought their house in 1967 and *still* live in the same house. Columbia was basically built around their neighborhood. They don't pay columbia taxes, but I could walk to Columbia property in 5 minutes.

I *loved* that area. And, I love the Clarksville area with the bigger houses and lots of land.

Cool you will be on the Oct 11 cruise. Do you have children, too?

Sandra

Sandra,

Our neighborhood is still very much like Columbia with regular houses on small lots. I wish we were in those larger houses on the big lots, but still very greatful.

Bill and I have been married for 17 yrs, but don't have any kids. We love kids, but just can have them. Long story. We're big kids ourselves. Well, one of us more than the other. Can you guess which one. LOL! On the last cruise, we watched the kids and their parents play "Mr Toad's Wild Race" and I even dragged hubby to the "Mickey 200" race were my car went down the ramp, but didn't finish. I was going to give up our slot for a kid, but they needed racers. We were still 5 racers short on our cruise. The neighborhood kids are my kids. We even took our neighbors kid on a cruise last year. We had so much fun! It's nice seeing things from their prospective instead of the adults. I love to make kids happy. The kids come over and want to play and I have to tell them that my mom and dad are cooking dinner for me, so I have to stop riding bikes, walking the dog or whatever and go inside and cook. It's so funny!

I don't know how I keeping missing those toppers....can someone tell me where to buy one? I have MM ears for Christmas, Halloween, Fourth of July, Minnie ears...but no DCL ears.

Thanks!!
Ginny

You can only buy them on the Magic or the Wonder. You do see them on ebay. Someone on the boards might be able to pick one up for you if they're going soon. Our next trip on the Magic is in 9 months.

Tina

Yay! I didn't know I was going to get a special antenna topper! Woohoo! thank Disney for feeding my addiction... And no one tell my DH until I get back and it's too late! :p

Well...until I get a second one I'm too chicken to put mine on my antenna because it's so cute that I could see it getting stolen easily - although I have yet to have one taken. Usually I get two of them so that I can keep one for my collection and have one for my car. I have someone that just left the other day and she is hopefully going to be able to get me another one from the cruise. I did get mine on ebay!

We are cruisin' in July and I would be more than happy to pick one up for you if you don't find anyone going sooner. Just PM me and let me know!

Hey everyone,

I grew up in Randallstown during the 60's and 70's. I know live in North Laurel (Howard County) and my sister just bought a home in Columbia. It really is a small world.

I would be a little discouraged too if I didn't have a place for my Mickey antenna:)

Vicki

Another great place to put your attena topper is on the end of a pen. I use my new DCL one on my favorite pen at work and have gotten a lot of comments from customers and co-workers in the three days I've been back. I had the santa Mickey one on a red pen for Christmas.

You have to push a bit - but they do fit!

I can't wait until August!! Vacation & a new topper!!! Life is good!

Thanks for the info...I'll be checking out the onboard shops.

Ginny

Ready for Disney,

Since you are on the 10/11/03 cruise with Tina and me, why don't you come over to the 10/11/03 thread and join the DIS group. We have a large number of people going and it is a great way to meet people before going on the cruise.
