We visited Cozumel about 6 years ago and we were not impressed.
We will be visiting again next April and are looking for something to do.
Contemplating just staying on the ship- however we do enjoy getting out and seeing new places.
Last time we were there we did an excursion with the ship and it was boring- so it could just be that we did the wrong thing last time.
It will be me, dh, ds (14) and dd (5).
We will be doing the turtle farm and stingray city in Grand Cayman so maybe something different in Cozumel.
We will be in port 9:30-6:30
Thanks!!!

We tried Nachi Cocum for the first time last fall, and it was outstanding! We would definitely go back there for our Cozumel day. The beach was gorgeous, and they only let 100 people in for the day, so there are plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. They also have a pool and hot tub with a swim-up bar. All your food and drinks are included in the price. There is a huge pavillion with lots of tables to sit at when you want something to eat. DH rented a jetski and took DD8 for a ride! Lots of fun! Check it out...here is the website:

Check out Chankanaab National Park. They have a dolphin program there, but they also have snorkeling, places to eat and a really pretty beach just to watch the beautiful blue water.

After reading LOTS of reviews and looking at lots of possibilities on what to do, this is what we decided to do. The deposit is non-refundable so I am going to wait until the last minute to book and hope they haven't reached 100 people yet. I'm worried about my kids having fun here so hopefully it will be okay.

we went to Chankanaab National Park and did the dolphin encounter. Admission was included and so was the cost of the taxi ride. the pool was great. the water is a bit rocky, but there were lots of fish to see. when we went in 08, my son was 5, and he was free to do the dolphin encounter!! it was definitely the best excursion we have ever done.

We were at Nachi Cocum on June 27 and had a wonderful time! Our 11 year old was never bored. We took a sand bucket and football but he really played in the pool most of the time. My husband rented a waverunner for the two of them before lunch. My son loved the swim up bar for ordering his "kid strawberry daiquri". I enjoyed sitting under the palapa reading a book - even during the afternoon rain storm. A very quiet relaxing place to spend the day with awesome drink service. Easy to catch a cab to get there and they call a cab for you when you are ready to go. We loved Magens Bay in St Thomas so we knew our family would enjoy the quiet aspect of the resort.

We've been to Cozumel three times on two different cruise lines (not DCL...our first DCL cruise is next month).

The first visit (Celebrity), dh and I rented a convertible VW Beetle and drove around the island, ending up at Chankanaab with some friends. It was fun but I wouldn't do it with a family.

Second visit (Carnival), dd was 18mo. We went straight to Chankanaab and just hung on the beach all day.

Third visit was my favorite. Dd was 3.5yo and we took a Carnival excursion to Passion Island. The excursion was pricey through them but my sis worked on the ship so it was covered. :)

The island was pristine, not a lot of people at all (even when a full catamaran arrived late morning), food was yummy and the beach was heavenly! Dd spend much of the day scooping up water from the ocean and dumping it on the beach!

If we ever get back to Cozumel, I would definitely do this again!

Be aware that everyone wanted a tip. The bus driver (port to boat launch) the boat launch driver, and the chef from the island lunch (made a special trip to see off every boat returning to Cozumel!).

we adore cozumel but our trip there last Halloween was the first in awhile. we were amazed at san miguel and all the changes.

After talking to DH we realized if we go back the first thing we are doing to getting far away from port. We found amazing fun restaurants - kids got to try their spanish. Chaakanaab is amazing. Planning Nachi next time. if we do not do that we will go exploring and talk to locals.

We always go to Chankanaab Park, it's a great place. It's the only place DH and I have gone off on our own.

This looks wonderful! How was the food and drinks? Was there a good selection of frozen drinks and beer? We are doing a Western next year with a few people that I think would really go for this. Especially if the drinks are included. ;) Was transporation from port included?

Nachi Cocum: There seemed to be several beer options (we had Dos Equis) and lots of frozen drink choices. They were also offering tequila shots at the swim up bar. Our food was yummy - each person gets an appetizer, a main entree, and a dessert. We encountered a rainstorm around lunch and all the guests converged at one time under the pavillion to eat. It was fun! Our service was great - even served me by umbrella while I sat under the palapa in the rain. You will need to take a taxi since transportation is not included. Just exit the port and report to the taxi stand. We told them Nachi Cocum and they ask if you have a reservation. The taxi cost is a set amount - $15 for our group of 3 each way. When you pull up to Nachi Cocum, an employee meets you at the taxi. When you are ready to leave, you let them know and they get you a taxi back to the port. It isn't really far from port and located off a road with lots of other resorts (Paradise Beach, Mr. Sanchos, etc). We always do excursions on our own and this was one of the easier ones. We felt safe the whole time and were never bothered by locals to buy something.

We went to Paradise Beach in Cozumel on our June 2009 western cruise. It was great and such a bargain. We had 12 people in our party and got 2 cabs to take us there. They have inflatable stuff in the water to play on (giant iceberg, floating island, etc) that you can pay $10 for a full day pass. The beach chairs were free and they had delicious food and drinks that you could order and eat right at your beach chair. It was great. I was kind of nervous finding a cab at first but we walked out beyond the first round of cabbies right on the dock and found a good deal. We will definitely return if we are ever in Cozumel again. The guacamole was awesome!

We went here too last Oct with our group of 18 ranging from 7 to 77. Everyone had a great time!

We tried to book Nachi Cocum but didn't discover it until around 2 mos before our cruise and it was full then.
Since we don't know what we were missing, we felt we still had a great time and only had to buy water toy bracelets for the kids which I think were $10 or 12. Nachi Cocum would have been a LOT more which is fine if you drink your $ worth but we wouldn't have.
They had a little restaurant right there and the food was decent.

Unless they've changed it in the past couple months, the deposit is pretty low - like 20-some bucks. That's totally worth it unless you just feel like there's a good chance you will change your mind.

We just booked Nachi Cucomo today and it was a deposit of $60 for 4 adults and two children. FYI
