Covid Testing

I have been reading the boards and I am so confused as to when to test. If my cruise leaves on a Tuesday, and if I schedule my test on a Saturday will the be accepted? There are two of us (myself and my mother) and we are flying down the day before and will not have a car.

thank you
Jennifer
I don't think so. I think it would have to be Sunday. My cruise leaves on Thursday, 7/21. Everyone in the group agrees that the last day to test is Tuesday, 7/19. You can test 2 days before you leave. Two days before Tuesday is Sunday.

Just scheduled appointments with onpoint testing. Was hoping they'd announce that testing would no longer be required by our August fantasy cruise.
Seems pretty simple, we have a family of 5 so we were able to schedule two separate appointments for the same time, one for 3 and one for 2 people. Just going to use ihealth tests we received, so just had to pay $15 per person. Cruise departs on a Saturday so scheduled for Thursday afternoon while we will be at Disney.

this is what we plan to do from our resort room too. We leave on a Saturday so plan to test on Thursday. On-point seems to have a much affordable price.

Sonia, Thank you. One more question, is a rapid NAAT test acceptable?
I think that's the same as a rapid PCR. You should get results in time, but I think that's overkill. All you need is a rapid antigen that is proctored/watched by a professional. I assume pharmacies are still doing rapid antigen. There are also telehealth places like OnPoint and eMed. DCL will accept rapid antigen and these telehealth places. A PCR is more sensitive and may pick up on an old infection. You don't want that to happen.

Hi Jennifer,
If your cruise departs on a Tuesday, then based on current rules you have to test in the two days prior to your sail date. Which for you would be Sunday or Monday AND you must upload your results to the safe passage website by midnight Monday since you sail on a Tuesday.

I hope this helps. I agree it is confusing.

We were planning to do the free Walgreens tests when we got down to Florida on the 19th (2 days before we sail), but now that they are charging we had to come up with a new plan. We are going with on point as we can use the free tests the government supplies and just pay a fee for the virtual portion. Since we are going that route and they take appts 24 hours a day we are thinking of doing at 3:45am before we head to the airport for our 6:30 flight. Two questions for anyone that has gone this route. How long does it take to administer and receive the results as we need to leave the house by 4:15am? Second, I am not sure where this company is based, but do we know for sure that the date of the test on the form with show the correct day being that we are taking it in our time zone so early?
We were very pleased with emed. It was around $30 per test. It was simple and only required a phone.

I just booked the Inspire thru safe passage for the Radisson port location but they have a location in the Sheraton at the airport as well. It seems like a smooth process and they upload all the information straight to safe passage so you should be approved to sail immediately.
Sorry another question about getting tested at the Radisson... Is it by appointment or do you book the day and then walk in when you get there? (We will be driving there.)

I booked an appointment. They make you choose a time.

SweetSpot,

We sail on 7/25, we are 15 days out and I just registered on the Safe Passage website. But, I do not see where to book the appointment at the Radisson. Do I have to wait for some kind of approval before I book it? Thanks for your help!

Login to your Safe Passage account. On the Welcome page scroll down to Embarkation Screening. It will show your testing is pending for your travel party and list the names in your party. Click view next to your name and on the next page scroll down til you see Schedule and Early Embarkation Test Near the Terminal. Click on that and it should take your to scheduling a test. I can't see that part anymore now that I am scheduled.

You pay ahead of time right?

Thanks so much for the info and getting back to me so quickly! :-)

Following your instructions, when I get to my name I am unable to click on it. It says: "Pending Health Record Validation," so I guess it is too soon to make the appointment.

I did get a Safe Passage email saying they received our uploads and that they will be reviewing them in two (2) business days. It seems we have to wait for yet another email saying that they have completed the review, before I can book the appointments. I think I have that right.

Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated! Hope you don't mind if I have any other questions for you. So many steps!! :scared:

I think you are correct. They need to confirm your vaccine info before you can do the next step. This is our 5th post covid cruise so they already had it and approved at midnight on the 15th day so we were able to make the appoints right away. I will try to remember to post back to tell you how the testing went on Tuesday.

Great - thanks! Hope you have a wonderful cruise.

P.S. This is our 1st post covid cruise, as you can tell!

Went to the Radisson at 12 for our test appointment today. Were taken immediately. Test took a couple seconds and they allowed us to wait for the results. Within 15 minutes we checked in, tested, received our results and a confirmation from Safe Passage that we were clear to sail. Unbelievably fast and easy and worth the cost to us. Also, the two Inspire techs were wonderful. Will use them again next month if they don't drop the requirement.
