Omg pls realize how blessed you all are to have a backyard . I would literally give my left arm for my kids to have a backyard right now . We went to the park at 8 this am and by 820 a grandpa I will assume showed up with two kiddos and they followed my kiddos everywhere , we went to swings they went to swings , back to climber they went .. I would assume you show up at 8 you are trying to avoid ppl but nope they simply didn’t get it . We left shortly after . That was heartbreaking drag their little butts outta bed super early drive to a park and have to leave before they were ready ..
Hi Hon
I am so sorry,, sometimes people just don't get it.
I know here there are signs up in Parks reminding people to stay apart ,,, but know as an educator explaining and enforcing that with kids is another thing.(Especially if the parent/guardian doesn't get it).
One of my online students (grade 8) is devastated right now that we are having *April Break* .
She lives to visit her Pirate Park (the play structure is a pirate ship design) down by the lake each afternoon. (Mom and the girls live in an Apt with no backyard or playground.)
Well with all the extra kids out of school it is just too busy for her mom (single parent) of 2 daughters dx. with A.S.D. & D.D.
to manage safely on her own.
I have been able to find them a couple of local walking trail that are not too busy and they take a bunch of sport equipment with them.
I live beside a walking trail,, and seriously the traffic has increased 400%. The City has not increased the dog/garbage receptacles either ,,,
Last week I called the City and said you NEED to do something here because it is turning into a health risk ,,,, masks and garbage everywhere.. The most the city did was ask people to stop painting and placing rocks in the forest ,,, duh ,,, the kids love hunting for new rocks everyday.
Is your kids regular school available for use?
Like could you take the kids and use the outdoor play area?
Has the kids resource workers/teachers offered any at home equipment ?
You are entitled to support Hon.
We sent home tons of stuff for our kids,, I am also willing to pick up and drop stuff off at their homes.
We bag stuff --sit it for 3-4 days and then transport.
:mini trampoline
:exercise balls
:hoppers
:stretchy bands
:scoops & balls
: copies of a circuit workout
:Yoga magic mats
Skipping ropes/hula hoops / foam frisbees
: sensory bins galore (my specialty).
I am also going to suggest you contact your local library for any online supports//afternoon book reading club/ story time.
Reach out Hon ... I truly wish you lived closer.
Even our kids that are doing at home learning still have a gym teacher and Spec Ed. Resource staff that still reach out many times a week for online gym/ etc. classes.
The parent I was telling you about is going to try a McDonald's ice cream treat drive and see if the Park is any less busy around
9:30 - 10:00 pm,,, I know it's late but sometimes you gota do what yah gota do.
Ok enough of my rambling on....
thinking of you
Hugs
Mel
