Covid Comeback?

That's what I'm saying. It's so weird how different people react (or don't). DW has had it. We took no precautions, slept in the same bed, etc, and I never came down with it.
I wonder if they'll ever figure it out. Although I guess the same could be said of the flu or colds. I never actually every caught strep or the flu from my kids when they had it, and we barely passed any colds around either. Certainly I have had all those illnesses but I never seem to pick them up from people I know when they have them.

Sounds like you have a good immune system that can fight off infections. Wish I had that!

Same here. Although, in our case I'm the wife. Didn't they say that you're most contagious the day beforehand? Anyways, that's what we thought. The day beforehand, we did NOT socially distance and we also slept together. When DH figured out to test the next day, and tested positive, we just figured "too late now-I guess it's definite that I'll get it". But weirdly, even though I'm a senior citizen, I didn't get it.

About 30% of the people in Mass in South Shore Massachusetts were coughing and sneezing yesterday, (I mask every day and shower ASAP) I went home and convinced my sniffling 20 something son to test and he is positive. It says the state is green and low numbers but I think there will be a massive jump soon especially with college students and kids going back to school in a hot minute. For some reason the South Shore always seems to lead the way, maybe because it is the closest beachy feeling beach close to Boston accessible from inland as well? Back in PA my town also lead the way, always had lots of truckers so maybe that is the reason. Funny how some towns are just that way, I can guess but wonder why exactly. Testing myself, fingers crossed.

Turns out I bought the new Flu A/B & Covid test kits just in time, just bought more.

My wife came home today. Said HR put out a note today, 6 confirmed cases in the building last week. Contact tracing has identified 36 people who could have been exposed. That's a quarter of the employees!

Which brand tests do you get?

I picked up these because I got the brand from the government when they had that program of sending free Covid ones, amazon got them to us quickly and it was a relief to see all three at once. It totally saves on copays and puts my own mind at ease. DH is able to test in the UK, such a relief as I packed one for each day as a precaution and our son tested positive while he was in the plane :/. He landed and was able to sleep knowing he was neg for that day.

I’m surprised anyone is still doing contact tracing.
Just good planning. If the potential exists that a quarter of your staff could be out sick for five days, you have to have contingency plans to cover.

Well, I went to the family BBQ on Saturday, and was kissed and hugged by lots of people I don't normally come in contact with, and today is Tuesday and I feel great and have tested negative. I guess I dodged the bullet. This time.

It's going around here. My wife tested positive last night. And a few people at work have had it. Thankfully, my son and I are negative. I had covid around Easter, and I think the antibodies are helping me avoid it this time.

Was on a cruise last week.

Caught Covid for the 1st time ever.

Lots of congestion, weird snot 🤢, cough, and sleeping so deeply-thats been pretty cool.

Today is day 6 from onset of symptoms and I went back to work with a mask.

We tried to get boosters a month ago, but they're pulled in my area awaiting the updates this fall.

Guess I've made my own vaccine this time 😉

My son finally got his first bout with Covid right when this board started. He had gone to a small convention in NYC that week. 2 days later on ******* it seemed like everybody mentioned they got covid. He woke up not feeling well that morning. We pulled out the free gov’t test kits we had, which had expired over 12m ago. Took the tests anyway, he came up +, me -. Ordered new tests from Amazon. Came the next day. He was +, I was -. I guess those expired kits were OK. He was sick less than 3 days.

I have still not gotten covid. Don’t ask me why or how. Have no idea. DH hasn’t either. We tested the few times we got sick and after known high exposures. Nada. I’ve had 3 shots. It’s been years since either of us had the flu and we each had 1 cold since covid. Both in our 50s.

From the ABC article above...
"I do want to acknowledge that we continue to see a lot of COVID-19 activity across the country right now in tests coming back from labs," Cohen said, adding, "Circulating COVID disease is not translating into similar increases in emergency room visits and hospitalizations or deaths."
