Courtesy we can extend to each other

Not smoke on the balconies
Not throw thrash off the balconies
Not leaving wet towels all over the chairs after leaving the pool
Actually supervising your children
would make my stays better.
smoking on balconies will always happen due to no one wants to go down to smoking area when you can't sleep at 2am. I don't smoke any more, but I did smoke on balconies occasionally, late night, . always checked to make sure no one was out on theirs, tried to get corner rooms so not offending anyone I could help, and I NEVER left any evidence of ashes, trays butts, etc. Many people do not clean up after themselves, that's just gross.
I have never seen trash off balconies, that's awful.
I have found most people leave their wet towels to dry and use them again when they get beck out of pool. it saves their chairs. Disney never has enough chairs around their pools, IMHO. walking away and leaving wet towels, yuck, how rude.
Supervising children, I agree but if they are not taught manners at home, on the reg, it's happening on vacation. However I have found most kids at DVC resort to be just fine.
Perhaps you'd be happier at a all adult situation? I think Disney could do well to have a 55+ smaller resort. there are times I would book that.

There have been threads about food to prepare while in a studio and this method of making a grilled cheese sandwich was mentioned. Hard to believe that someone would actually to this.

I put all towels in tub, make sure all dirty dishes are in dishwasher and turn it on, make sure fridge and freezer are empty, make sure all trash and recycling are in appropriate containers but don't take it out of room. I don't strip the bed but I also don't make it like I would during my stay. We leave the room in good order upon check out. We always leave early in the AM (3:30-4AM) so I don't think the front desk or housekeeping is there at that time. We do use bell service so hopefully they let someone know we have checked out. Can you leave a message for housekeeping? If so going forward I will let them know so they have plenty of time to clean our room.
we made grilled cheese with iron all the time in college, LOL, hamburgers too, wax paper , then towel, then aluminum foil, rofl, I can't believe we didn't do damage. I would never do this now, but that brought back memories.

Yikes! Glad you didn't burn the place down! Also glad to hear you wouldn't do it now!

What do they say? With age comes wisdom? ;)

We do our own pretty extensive cleaning upon arrival and don’t make much of a mess while we’re there (or at least clean up), so I like to think that with such limited housekeeping / mousekeeping that we’re helping our future guests.
I carry Clorox wipes and we wipe down all flat surfaces, all knobs, handles, remotes, and toilet handles seats and almost everything else in bathroom and bedroom, Including phones and pulls, and spray beds with micro bacterial we use in hosp. We've done this for about 30 yrs. Not gotten sick time, until covid. got it in Jan. on trip to Santa Clara to Hawaii, to Long Beach and Disneyland. Timing says I probably caught it in Santa Clara, I was there about a week prior to when they can say for sure they had first case. That hotel in Santa Clara was the first time in years we didn't follow our own protocol. WE did some, but slacked off due to excitement. we blew it.

I'm not 55, yet

Not related to room ready but....
Pool courtesy
Don't take up excessive amounts of pool chairs.
At 9 am.
Because people in your group may want to take a dip at 3.
I do not concider 3 chairs being help by One flip flop. Yesterdays news paper and empty bottle of lotion
occupied!!😎🤔

or the six chairs being all held by unused pool towels for hours.
(I love advanced move of unfolding the towels and staging them to appear as if they are in use.)
And when you done for the day. Throw away your garbage and return towels.

I do people the courtesy of removing unused towels from pool chairs and turning in unattended personal items to lost and found. I figure they must have been forgotten. (I do watch for a bit to make sure that people aren't just in the pool).

Haha. Exactly. If you’ve watched and there’s no one in sight for 45 mins or so… I’m using them. They aren’t rented so if you’re just suiting up in the room quickly sure but off in the parks all day? I’ll use the chair, thanks ;).

These pool issues are so true especially at the popular pools. Our family of 4 takes one chair. I found one in the shade at SSR paddock pool so I sat with our baby. For nearly an hour, all but 2 chairs in the shaded area remained reserved but unused. It’s incredibly rude if you ask me but this isn’t a DVC specific issue, common problem at pools.

Elevator courtesy. Please don't block the elevator doors while waiting for it to arrive. Many times I am trying to get off the elevator and people are either blocking the doors standing there or trying to jump in without letting others off first. Ye, it happens everywhere but seems to be a particular problem at WDW (and cruise ships).

Remind people that they are not at home and going down the hall a 3 in the morning while screaming should be discouraged. That goes for the kids also.

But… but… They are constantly reminding people that they ARE home…??

- it isn't cute or funny when your children pound on all the doors as they pass them, all hours of the day & night. Please stop laughing & encouraging them.
- if another Guest jumps in the pool for a few minutes, their belongings do NOT belong to you (literally, less than an hour at the pool & maybe 15 minutes swimming, & we've had cover-ups, pricey sunscreen, books, etc stolen, & yes, it is stealing )
- if you need to talk on your phone on the balcony or pool, please, PLEASE at least try to not yell loudly & keep it short. many enjoy quiet time out there & hearing your very detailed regurgitation of the last 24 hours is not very enjoyable. Also, locking a child out on the balcony, screaming & pounding the glass door, is NOT safe or cute, not matter how amusing you think it is.

While we do clean the rooms before leaving, I place the towels in a pile on the bathroom floor. Having to lean into a tub (especially the large jetted tubs) to get all the towels can put an undue strain on anyone's back.

And a big thank you to the vast majority who are polite, considerate, & especially the ones who return my smiles & "hello" in the hallways - it's just such a lovely DVC
connection :flower1:

A simple hello to everyone you come in contact with might change someone’s day. It’s free and can ( maybe) put a smile on their face and change their attitude.

I usually bring one (or 2 if I'm there a long time) large garbage bags and combine all the trash in it the morning of check out and put it next to the garbage can. I used to take it out to the garbage area but I'm not even sure if those are still around for DVC people to use.

Agree! If they would just put the check out option on the tv or even the phone that would be very helpful.

Seems like an obvious addition to the app. I’ve left very early in the morning and would have been happy to pound a button on the app.

But Disney IT has more important issues, like fixing borrowing would be a good place to start.

I think DVC could go very low tech on this. They could have a door tag (like the Room Occupied tags) which says, "I've checked out, room is ready to be cleaned for the next guest." When you leave, you put it on the outside of the door. I know that not everyone would do it, but for those who would, it would be readily visible to the Mousekeeper working that area.
