Do you eat lots of sugar free things? Like using sugar substitutes or just go really bare on actual sugar?

I use Sweet N Low or Equal for drinks, but even "sugar free" stuff has a lot of sugar alcohols and is how they get away with claiming sugar free or no sugar added. My 10 gram limit includes sugar alcohols and some other hidden sugar substitutes under the carbs line. It can be VERY difficult. I have to monitor it completely. If I go over that 10 gram limit within 1 hour time frame I get very sick. Once you deal with it for a while, you learn... a 1 " by 1" piece of cake with a very light layer of frosting is about 10 grams sugar. I very rarely drink juice. Every once in a while I really crave it and go with an apple juice diluted in water about 2 oz juice with 2 oz water. Fruits... I can eat not quite 1/2 of most fruits (apples, banana's, oranges) or a small handful of grapes (about 8-10). Once you get used to not having much, you actually become quite satisfied with the small amounts of it and a lot of super sweet stuff becomes to rich. Most of the stuff I make for my kids or hubby and then just take a couple bites out... Like when I make your waffles, each kids waffle will have 1 or 2 bites out of it before they even see them on their plates. :rotfl2: They have become used to this! Poor family!

Less than a week to go!! Woo hoo! I can't wait to see what you have planned for your costumes :)

That is really great info, I have never really thought about how many grams of sugar are even in fruits! I am going to start looking at how many grams of sugar are in things that we buy on a regular basis, just out of curiosity. I can agree with you that certain stuff would become too rich after a while, we started using less sodium and salt on our food, and it really makes a difference, sometimes things are just ridiculously salty! I am going to be making the Potato Leek Soup from Be Our Guest tomorrow, so I wonder if there will be any sugar in that?? :idea:

Less than a week to go!! Woo hoo! I can't wait to see what you have planned for your costumes :)

ohboy ohboy ohboy!! I can't wait to try this! Its going to be soooo yummy! I love pineapple juice and grenadine already and now adding bubbly is gonna be awesome! But I seriously need that glow cube! Maybe they will have something in the parks by the time we go!

Uuuuh, four hour drive for a meeting? Boo-urns! Hop he got home safe and sound! or stayed the night!

I have never been in a Whole Foods. I think maybe they are still new to Canada and I only found one not too too far from us last Christmas. But no need to go there yet. Hmmm.......

Oh man! Trip in one week!! So exciting!!

It's getting close! :banana::banana::banana:

Yeah that drink is a new staple for me! I looked on eBay and those darn glow cubes are going for like $20!! I was like What the crap!! I should have bought more drinks when I was there just to get the little cubes, I hope that they may be in some other drink sometime, because they are pretty awesome!

He did get home safe! His meeting ended at like 6:30pm so he ended up getting home at around 10:45, which made for a REALLY long day, he did get to sleep in on Thursday though, so it worked out ok! Yeah, they make him drive all over the place for meetings and training and work and everything else too!

We didn't have a Whole Foods where we moved from, and the one closest to us now is still like 45 minutes away, so I only go there if we have something to actually go to Wilmington for, otherwise, that is a huge gas buster to drive that far just to go to a grocery store!

5 Days!! I am so happy, bouncing off the walls!! :banana::banana::banana:

:yay::yay: 5 Days To Go!! :yay::yay:

For lunch today, I made my version of the Potato Leek Soup from Be Our Guest! I am having so much fun making all of these yummy Disney dishes at home! It is really helping us get into the Food Mood for the parks! Only a few more days to go and I will be eating the Disney version of these things! Yay! :banana::banana:

Cool, I will have to remember that site when it comes back up! It seems right up my alley! I love soup, there are some other really good ones at Disney too, eventually I hope to make more of them at home! :yay:

Well, you are getting super close now! I hope you have a great trip, Andrea. I've got a few irons in the fire, so to speak, right now, but once things calm down, I'm definitely going to try your recipe for the potato leek soup. It looks delicious! I probably won't be able to chime in again before you go, so best wishes. Stay safe on your travels and have an amazing time! :thumbsup2

Aww, thanks Stephanie! I hope we do too! I am really looking forward to the things we have planned. We will try to stay safe and can't wait to talk to you again when we get back and I start the Trip Report! If you do get to try the soup, I hope you like it!! :goodvibes

So Updates:

Saturday, Victoria & Albert's called to confirm our reservation...and they let me know that they had recently done a "little" price increase...I was like What!!
So yeah, instead of QVR and Chef's Table being $210 per person. Now Queen Victoria Room is $225, and Chef's Table is $250 per person!! That is at least an $80 increase we are going to incur on our budget for this trip. I am just wondering now if we will be getting something extra for those extra dollars. I guess we will just have to wait and see on Saturday night!

We will finish up our packing tomorrow and load up King Candy! We are planning on leaving here no later than 9:00am on Wednesday morning, that way we can stop to get lunch around 11:00 or so. Hopefully we will make decent time down to the Golden Isles area of Georgia.

I made one last recipe before we go, and it was from the 2012 Festival. I had some extra blueberries in the freezer and thought I would use them up! So if you are interested in the recipe for Lemon Curd with Blueberry Compote, you can click the link to go to my blog to see it ;)

Hopefully I will get a chance to do maybe one last post before we get on our way Wednesday!! I am about to start counting down the hours until all of that wonderful Disney Food & Fun! Let's just hope it is better than Villains Unleashed, which reminds me, I am going to post those photos tomorrow! All 3 of the characters we got! Bowler Hat Guy, Shan Yu, and The Witch! See you guys tomorrow for my final countdown day!!

LOVING your blog posts!!!!!! Have a wonderful trip - can't wait for your tweets and future TR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOVING your blog posts!!!!!! Have a wonderful trip - can't wait for your tweets and future TR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's so great!! I am glad you are enjoying the blog posts! I am having so much fun making all of that stuff at home! I really love to cook and create recipes. I wish I would have gone to culinary school, there isn't one near where we live though :(

I will definitely be tweeting about the trip starting tomorrow!! Then as soon as we get back the new TR will start right on schedule hopefully!! Thanks for sticking with me!! Can't wait to get started on everything! :goodvibes

:yay::yay::yay: 1 Day To Go!!! :yay::yay::yay:

We are leaving tomorrow so in about 24 hours we are going to be checking last minute things before we get on the road! I have to run to the store today to get a few last minute things, and then finish the last loads of clothes to put into the suitcase! So excited!

I want to thank all of you guys who followed along with the Pre-Trip Report!! I love sharing everything with you and hearing all of your wonderful comments! I guess your reward will be photos from the Villains Unleashed night...LOL I hope that will suffice until we get back and I start the TR on Monday!

The first photo is my favorite!! Who doesn't love Bowler Hat Guy! I also heard that he is in this year's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, so I may get another photo of him from that!! I will keep my fingers crossed!!

The next photo is of us and Shan Yu! He was definitely a little scary as we were standing next to him, not nearly the same fun loving type villain as the Bowler Hat Guy was.

Last was right before we left that night, The Witch...now look at the way she is holding our hands, it was definitely a creepy interaction. Not to mention the lights were so blindingly bright that Jeremy couldn't even keep his eyes open, oh well. Hopefully we get some good shots at MNSSHP!! So excited!

I am so happy that I am going to be able to stretch my Memory Maker to 3 trips! Makes me really happy because spending $50 per trip technically doesn't seem so bad. Not nearly as bad as $150 per trip. :worship: We just need to remember to take full advantage of the Photopass people while we do have it!

So again, thanks so much to all of you guys who followed this PTR, I am looking forward to seeing you at the TR and hearing all of your comments!!

To answer you question.... Your Potato Leek Soup recipe would have 26.55 grams of sugar in it.

Break down for the items in the recipe that contain sugar:

Yellow onion 1/3 cup = 3.33g
Leeks 3 cups =9g
garlic 1 tsp =0.06g
Yellow Potato 4 cups = 8g
Heavy Cream 1/2 cup = 0.16g
Veg Stock 6 cups = 6.00g

Total: 26.55 grams sugar

I am estimating about 14 cups in the total amount of soup, so a 2 cup serving would have about 3.79 grams total sugar (soups are pretty safe!)

Love the pic with Shan Yu!

Am so loving all the recipe's. Such an amazing idea you had for this! Look forward to the emails I get from Spoonful of Pixie Dust.

Sucks about the increase at Victoria & Albert's. I am wondering if there will be something extra there too. Always enjoy your reviews of your meals there! I haven't been able to experience them yet myself. We always have kids with us and don't think they would enjoy that fine of a meal and not sure they would be able to handle the length of it. Can't wait to try it once they are out of the house. It will be #1 on my must do list on the first trip we take with no kiddo's.

Yum! Everything looks so good! I'm loving your blog.
Hope you guys are having a great time! I can't wait to read the TR!
