Couponing: how to get extra inserts

I am not interested in a getting into a verbal volleyball match, however, I find it ridiculous for you to think that I believe for one minute you are making 300 p/h reselling some cheap brand of shampoo. The thought that you wipe out shleves and expect people to get rain checks is deplorable. Also add me to the list of people wondering if you report your 300.00 per hour p/t job?

Sigh, it's sad when the basic ability of math is a lost art.

200 bottles
x $1.50 per bottle
= $300

I will spend about an hour dealing with them. That's $300 for an hours worth of work. On my own time. When I have time.

Herbal Essence is a very popular brand and the people I sell it to are not interested in doing the work to get it for a lesser price. That's my 'market', people who are willing to pay drugstore prices for things and find my prices to be a great deal.

You don't want to do it? No problem! I'm not asking you to. This is a thread that has gone WAY off topic. It was a thread asking how to get multiple copies of insert coupons. If you can't contribute, there really isn't a valid reason to be on here trying to bait the users that can.

I hope the OP found the information she was looking for. As to the non-couponers, whatever floats your boat...I'll do what works for me and you do yours. I'll never change your mind and you will never change mine. I think it is best that we both accept that fact and move on.

Can I just add that $1.50 for a bottle of Herbal Essence is a steal around here...well, for people who don't do the couponing that we obsessive people do!! :lmao:

Thank you all for your answers...I have started asking friends and family for their inserts...debating raiding the recycle bin on the good weeks!!

I used to think couponing was too time consuming...but the savings on my grocery bills are amazing!

I don't think delmar is doing anything wrong! There are no limits and she has the coupons - I say more power to her! And the fact that she never takes the last items shows she is very considerate of others!

Hey Delmar, you do realize that selling items which you got for free is considered earning INCOME by the IRS. If you got it for free and sell it, even for one penny, that is taxable income.

I am not going to the store and ask for rain checks because someone is cheating the system. I don't care how you rationalize it, to me it's wrong.

ETA - Even if you pay 1/2 price as in BOGO, if you sell it for more than you paid, it is income.

How is she cheating the system :confused3 I can't believe how upset some of you are getting over this. :sad2: If she isn't stealing them ( which she isn't) and the store has no problem with what she is doing then I'm not sure why you call it cheating the system. She has already said over and over that she doesn't wipe out the shelves and even if she did it isn't illegal or immoral!

There are also several coupon trains on this board so you can swap some coupons for ones you might be able to use.....I belong to one and it is a lot of fun getting those envelopes in the mail every week. :)

Back to the original topic----

I can buy either a local paper or the "big city" (Philadelphia) paper. I check the coupon previews at TaylorTown to determine what coupons I need/use/could potentially use/could trade with. On Sunday after church I pop into a drugstore to compare the inserts from the two papers. I will then buy either just 2 papers (on a bad week) or at least 6 on a really good week (like a P&G insert week with high-value coupons). I try to purchase the newspapers using my rebate Walgreens gift card or Walgreens Register Rewards. If I end up purchasing the local paper (which I will sometimes do on P&G weeks), I'll do so at ShopRite for $1.00 instead of the usual $1.50.

If there is a coupon we don't get due to regional differences OR one that I'd use a LOT of, I'll trade on www.HotCouponWorld.com In the past, I've ordered from a coupon clipping service but have stuck with trading since Januaryj.

Yeah I know $300 for like an hour of my time (stores are like 1mile apart, if that). I don't know many p/t jobs that offer that kind of payout. ;) I have people waiting for me to get the shampoo so they can buy it so storing it isn't an issue. It will be gone in a week. I have an area in my house to store that kind of stuff temporarily.

I don't tell other people how to shop or make extra money or provide for their family so it amazes me the number of people who find it acceptable to judge others for no reason at all. Don't like to shop in bulk? Then don't! It's pretty simple, shop how you like and I'll shop how I like. :confused3

I love that idea! I agree...why should other people judge how you shop!!!! It is your right.

I just found an insert at work and as noone else wanted what was left I got yet more good c/os! My neighbor gets the unday paper and I have to start bugging her for her left over inserts again ! I just started buying 2 papers a week and if I find really good c/os wil go backfor more!!That with my c/o exchange thru the Dis is great. I don't have a printer so getting c/os that way is out for me right now !!

You said it!!!! I agree. I can't imagine getting worked up over something like this!

If you really want to get into couponing, I highly suggest afullcup.com. There are a bunch of REALLY FRIENDLY people there, and they simply don't tolerate the flaming or any negativity whatsoever. You'll find a sticky on how to get coupons. All the things mentioned here are included.

There are practices that go on in the business world which people don't agree with, and IMO delmar is simply making money at something she likes to do. It isn't about "wiping the shelves clean". She has already stated she doesn't do that. Most serious couponers have an unspoken rule about this. It's considered rude, and hurts everyone in the long run. It is about legitimately saving money, and perhaps making a little $$ on the side. Simple business--these days with the economy as it is, you're likely to see a lot more of this going on. Get used to it.

How about we just move on !! I hate when good threads just turn nasty. The intent was HOW do you get extra inserts not what you do with them ! So let's get back on track!!

I am extremely grateful that I live in a country (USA :cool1: ) that allows me to shop anyway I want! I much prefer taking my chances that a savvy coupon shopper has temporarily depleted the shampoo supply from the shelves, to say the alternative of standing in line for 2 hours to get my government allotted bottle of shampoo. ;) Our "system" here in the USA is capitalism. I don't see how using coupons to get what you want could be considered abusing the system. It's not illegal, it's initiative. If someone wants to spend their time buying 200 bottles of shampoo, more power to them IMHO!
Excuse me whilst I climb down from my soapbox.

for trying to answer the original question. It was one I was interested in. Frankly, I don't care how someone uses her coupons! I just wanted to know how to get more.

My family is really struggling with my overspending in the grocery store, I need to turn things around and it seems that couponing may help (if I can just learn how to do it without making myself drown in the info).

Thanks for your answers and suggestions.:)

Start off small, find coupons for products that you use and see how fast the saving start. I started with a coupon for a $1 off cheerios, my store had them for $2 ea. so I paid only $1 for it! After that the sales seem to just hit you in the face. I love hot coupon world for their CVS section. My new rule is to never leave the house without my coupons in hand, you never know when you will make a quick stop somewhere and find a deal. Example, yesterday I went to Wal-Mart and their powerade was on sale for $.60, I had a $1 coupon off one so i got 2 bottles and paid $.20+tax.
Good luck on your new coupon journey.
:cheer2:

Do you belong to any groups? A neighbor recently got her church to place 2 coupon boxes in their community room. One was for baby stuff & the other for everything else. So far so good in that people are both taking & dropping off coupons. And as she joked it gets people to not rush out the door after services lol.
