Couponing: how to get extra inserts

How do you know when there is going to be a really great coupon insert? Do you go buy the paper on Sunday, go through it and then go back for more papers?

Not sure how this works... :confused3

most coupon sites have previews of what is going to be available. There is one site that has the coupons available sometimes more than a week in advance.

Kroger should really be putting limits on that. All the stores around here do(no Kroger here).

limits are per transaction and they don't care if 1 person buys 200 or 10 people buy 20. It's 200 bottles sold.

My stores are not only happy to see what I buy, they are excited to see my savings. That's from the managers down to the cart collectors. You can't shop like I do and be invisible. I also share my coupons with other shoppers and the cashiers so they can get free things too.

And I don't clear the shelves. That would be rude, esp at the grocery store.
If there are tons I can buy tons but if there is say 10 on the shelf, I'll only buy 6.

200 bottles of shampoo for real? :confused3 I cannot imagine the the hassle involved in going to 4-5 different locations, storing the crap, and reselling all for a few bucks. Really makes me scratch my head as to what lengths some people go thru to make a $. Unreal:rolleyes:

Yeah I know $300 for like an hour of my time (stores are like 1mile apart, if that). I don't know many p/t jobs that offer that kind of payout. ;) I have people waiting for me to get the shampoo so they can buy it so storing it isn't an issue. It will be gone in a week. I have an area in my house to store that kind of stuff temporarily.

I don't tell other people how to shop or make extra money or provide for their family so it amazes me the number of people who find it acceptable to judge others for no reason at all. Don't like to shop in bulk? Then don't! It's pretty simple, shop how you like and I'll shop how I like. :confused3

Delmar, do you sell online via EBay, or do you sell locally? (Just curious, because I know shipping isn't cheap).

Wow, no wonder I am unable to find what I want on sale or with coupons. All the couponers and resellers have already wiped out the shelves before I get a chance to purchase.

While you may see nothing wrong with what you are doing, it sure does make it hard for people who are trying to do their own shopping.

She has to be selling locally. All her customers who are waiting for her to resell the stuff to them can't be on ebay.

I hope the sotre do put limits on numbers so that regular people get a chance at the stuff.

I trade coupon inserts with my MIL. After we're done clipping what we want, we swap. Works out pretty well since they buy very different things that we do.

I also belong to a coupon train with a group of friends. We clip everything we don't use, then mail them to the next person. It costs me $1-$2 every other week or so to mail, and I get way more than that $2 back in coupons.

You go girl!

Although I am curious about how you go about re-selling it all...

Also how much are you paying on Ebay for coupons?

I'm paying no more than .10/cpn for ones that get things free. Like I paid $10 for 100 $3/2 HE coupons. That will get me 200 bottles of HE for free this week at Kroger. That's enough savings for me! ;)

Delmar:

Is the HE deal on again this week. My sale ad expired Saturday at midnight.

I also tried to get this deal with the $3.00 coupons but the promo didn't ring on the receipt and the manager said that HE was not one of the participating items. Did your receipt reflect the promo or did you have to have a manager over ride?

Thanks, and BTW, I think your purchase and reselling is a great idea. Very good money maker.:thumbsup2

All you have to do if the store is out of the special you want is to ask for a rain check. They will all give them and the item is usually back in within the week.

Sometimes the store won't give rainchecks for the super special sales. And honestly, I don't have time to go back & back to a store looking for specials. It gets annoying to go to a store on the first day of a sale & they are sold out because 1 or 2 people cleaned the store out. And I know there is no way in heck that I would buy shampoo at a yard sale. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I remember reading delmar's posts in the past, if I recall correctly I think her husband takes the free items to work and sells them there, so it's not like people are buying the items from an unknown seller at a yard sale. If I am mistaken I apologize! :)

I don't sell this stuff on Ebay. Shipping would wipe out the savings to the buyer. I only deal locally and outside of doing yard sales, I deal with people we know as a rule.

I don't wipe the shelves. I just got back and got 48 in one single transaction. I left a ton on the shelves too.

HE is included in our ad and comes off w/o an override. All 24 coupons went through just fine as well. Needed a CS override because of the savings but that's not unusual.

Our ad runs thursday to wednesday so I'm not sure if it will be on sale again for the next ad cycle. The P&G mix & match promo goes through the 23th but I'm not sure if all the original items are included each week. I've got jury duty starting next Monday so I don't want to just wait and take the chance I'll be tied up all week at court.

::yes::

although we did run yard sales last year and hundreds of people bought this stuff from us. *I* would NEVER buy these types of things at a yard sale but clearly there are tons of people who could care less. It's not like we do something to the items or they are old but I do know it carries that ick factor for many people. That I do understand completely.

Hey Delmar, you do realize that selling items which you got for free is considered earning INCOME by the IRS. If you got it for free and sell it, even for one penny, that is taxable income.

I am not going to the store and ask for rain checks because someone is cheating the system. I don't care how you rationalize it, to me it's wrong.

ETA - Even if you pay 1/2 price as in BOGO, if you sell it for more than you paid, it is income.

I am not interested in a getting into a verbal volleyball match, however, I find it ridiculous for you to think that I believe for one minute you are making 300 p/h reselling some cheap brand of shampoo. The thought that you wipe out shleves and expect people to get rain checks is deplorable. Also add me to the list of people wondering if you report your 300.00 per hour p/t job?

And you somehow know that I don't claim it? You know nothing of our tax situation.

And buying items in bulk isn't cheating the system. ;)

I don't wipe out shelves and it's not an issue here. Our stores actually have items on their shelves. Must be a new concept. :sad2:

Are you anti-extra bun as well?

Um, OK. You claim every penny. More power to you then. Buying in BULK is going to Costco, nVS or Walgreens. Like I said rationalize it all you want. It's cheating the system, IMO.

Have a great day. My B/P is rising, I am out of here.

:lmao: :lmao: Well, Delmar, I for one don't think what you are doing is wrong! You go girl!! I may only be upset with you because I am actually jealous that you can do this!! :rotfl2: Don't let other people discourage you...
