Coupon 101

Adding to the above:

--Check all the Sunday papers your area gets. Don't just rely on your local paper but check the "big city" papers as well. Our "big city" papers get more and better coupons than the local paper. The Philly paper sometimes has better coupons, then other weeks the Baltimore paper has the better coupons. I check each and every week. And check each paper that you do buy to make sure than the correct number and type of inserts are truly in there.

--Buy more than one Sunday paper! This is one of the keys to getting a good stockpile started-----then once you have a stockpile, you become more picky about what is or is not a good deal. I usually buy 4 papers each week, though I will bump it up to 10 on an exceptionally good week (like the past first Sunday in January!).

Ah Ha! See we have lousy coupons in my small town newspaper. I wonder where I can buy the bigger town papers?

I am not a super couponer, but I do use at least a couple every time I go to the store. My local paper doesn't have much in the way of coupons, so I print most of the ones I use online. I have printed and used coupons for everything from food to cleaning products to Disney movies.

My best tip is to look up the websites of the products you like/use the most and see if they have printable coupons. If they have a form to register your email or address, sign up! I have gotten lots of coupons in the mail this way. I still get Huggies coupons in the mail from when dd was a baby.

Then I try to wait to use my coupons until the items go on sale.

We have lousy coupons in our local paper too. So I subscribe to it & the big city paper. A lot of times you can get the big city papers even if it's a few days late.

And my mom gives me her papers too. So I get double. This SERIOUSLY helps out. Ask around at work to see if anyone else regularly gets a big city paper. They are almost always willing to give you their coupons, they feel like they are donating to a good cause. And it can start the ball rolling and all kinds of people start giving you their coupons.

In the Columbus Dispatch this weekend they gave out brown paper bags that said if you take it to Chipotle before March 21st they'd fill it with a free burrito. Everyone knows dh LOVES Chipotle. As of today I have 4 bags & dh has already gotten two free burritos as everyone who doesn't like Chipotle brought them into work & put theirs on my desk. So he's eating his favorite lunch every day this week for free!
