We have been going to DVC HHI since we purchased there in the summer of 1997. What quickly became a tradition was one day during our week taking an early morning bike ride over to the Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Last summer we didn't notice on the drive in that the Cracker Barrel had CLOSED and got up the next morning, got on our usual path only to get to the parking lot and find it closed.

Now, here are the questions. Anyone been there recently and know if anything went into the old Cracker Barrel location?

And -- anyone know of a good breakfast spot on the island that you can reach via bike on the bike paths. I know the Hilton Head Diner is pretty good but I don't think there is a bike path to it. With 2 little bike riders I really don't want to ride on the highway. Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. If not -- my kids have to put up with me cooking breakfast for them 6 straight days.

Thanks

Andy

There is not an offical bike path to HHdiner, but if you go through the woods at the end of where San Migules is at Shelter COve you come up to the dinner and Pirates Golf. You can see a path.

There is nothing yet in the old Cracker Barrel location.

I am trying to visualize whether it is possible to get to the diner without going on the highway - I think you can.

Thanks for the updates.....I can't believe that location hasn't been redeveloped -- seems like a great spot.

I know that the bike path runs thru Shelter Cove and along the water/river -- which means it moves away from the road. We could always just pack into the car and head to breakfast -- that's just not a fun.

Does the bike path go down to Harold's - down towards the old Cracker Barrell - really good breakfast and/or lunch.

Don't know -- can't picture where Harold's is. The path to Cracker Barrel is a very nice peaceful ride. It takes you thru Shelter Cove, behind the mall, past Guisseppi's, etc. and drops you in the parking lot. Not sure where it goes after that.

Rachel Ray suggested Signe's Bakery, with an awesome french toast. If you go to the foodnetwork and do a search, you can find more info.

We weren't that impressed with Signe's ourself. The french toast wasn't really what I was expecting. I guess we're more IHOP type people.
