Couple of questions---bikes and check in day preference

So, since I wasn't able to go to the Dismeet at the gulf this year due to some last-minute change of plans/circumstances, I am planning to go to the Fort and take advantage of a bit of discounted rate for late August. I'm bringing my bike, and don't currently have a good bike lock. Any suggestions on type/brand to use while at the Fort? (I should add here that my bike is not a really *nice* one, but looks decent. There's no great value to it, but I'd rather not make a trip to Walmart for a replacement...)

Also, I'll most likely be checking in on a Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday, and want to take advantage of free waterpark day as well. I'm thinking it's best to stay away from weekend check-ins due to crowds at the water parks. Any day better than others?

I think your check in plan sounds good. Late August, many schools have started back, so crowds should be a little lower and avoiding Friday, Saturday and Sunday for check in is best regardless of the time of year.

As for a bike lock, almost any lock (more apparent, the better) should be enough. I think most of the bike theft is a crime of opportunity. Make it hard and they will move on.

Thanks so much! I'm thinking of aiming for Tuesday check-in. Also wanting to avoid heavy traffic days on the drive down. Had considered a night @ Gulf Shores campground on the way down, but that still puts me about 7 hours drive for the next day to get to the Fort.
