We are finalizing our packing for our upcoming trip here in mid October.

Do I need bug spray?

At night if the low is 59 to 62 but the high is 81-85, do I need capris or jeans or long sleeves?

I was thinking I would pack short sleeves, tank tops/sleeveless tops and shorts and take a light weight jacket.
I'm in the upper North part of the US and our high is going to be 65 today so the kids are wearing short sleeves and jeans to school but we have a colder bite to the 65 degree weather now that it is fall. Just wondering if the humidity in FL and difference of being so much futher south means I need to pack jeans for later at the parks.

If you are flying, what snacks do you bring in your luggage for the week? I have read of people who bring cereal, granola bars, etc for breakfast in the room and then get perishable groceries when there. Just curious if we are there for 6 park days if we need to do this or if we can just get by on the DDP and picking up snacks there, i.e., milk, water and soda from the hotel and how much more expensive that would be?

If you have the disney dining plan you'll have more than enough food I promise! If your staying on site (couldnt really tell from this post) you can use snack credits to get a drink or if you want to save the snack creits it's no more than 2 dollars for any beverage. Sometimes we'd get up in the morning and instead of eating breakfast we'd have a granola bar or poptarts if you want to do that then go for it! It's so much better to get up early and go to the parks then because you beat the crowds! As for clothes I bring jeans and capri's but usually wear jeans and a tshirt the whole time at nightime you'll need a hoodie. We always go in october so I'm very familar with the weather haha be sure to bring ponchos or small umbrellas it rains a lot in october.

You said you wear jeans/capris all day and then a hoodie at night? If the temp is in the low 80s, isn't it hot for jeans? Or do you change at night when it cools down? Just confused? I though wearing shorts/t shirt during the day would be the plan and now I am rethinking my packing.

Since you go often in October, do I need bug spray? I am assuming we will need sunscreen?
TIA

We have been the third week of October the last two years. We only wore shorts and tank tops, never needed short sleeves/jeans/capris/sweatshirts. Although last year it was hotter than normal October weather, it was in the 90s some days. Going again next week, will probably wear a pair of jeans to I have 1 pair of long pants, and will wear a sweatshirt to have just in case, but basically will pack for summer. Maybe a couple of short sleeve shirts just in case. Right now they are predicting mid 80s during the day and mid 60s at night.
I have never needed bug spray at Disney. Never had an issue with mosquitos/bugs-more Disney magic, no bugs!
You will need sunscreen.

We just got back Oct 9th. It was cool in the morning and in the evening, warm to hot midday. We wore shorts/short sleeves and occasionally a jacket. We used sunscreen the first day for the kids but neither of us got burned so we skipped it the rest of the time and no sunburns. (My kids burn easily too.) We did get several mosquito bites, so I would bring bug spray.

We stayed at the cabins at the Fort and used Garden Grocer for the first time. It was awesome. The food was in the cabin when we got there. We would eat muffins, cereal, etc. for breakfast and used the dining plan for the rest. It actually was more than enough food and we didn't drink nearly as much as we usually do in June or August because the weather was milder.

Have a great trip!!

October is my favorite month to be at Disney World. However, you do need to pack a little of everything. We have had trips where we have gone from record heat (think sweating to death in tank tops and shorts) to so cold we had to wear jeans and fleece. All in a one week period of time!

Love being at WDW for the Food and Wine festival. Love all the halloween decorations and how pretty the Magic Kingdom looks. But the weather is a bit unpredictable.

I said jeans/capris because it depends on what your more comfortable, I'm saying that jeans arent too hot to wear especially with the chilly air conditioning that your constantly in and out of and there is also plenty of shade in Disney as well. I dont like shorts because if your sitting on a ride and your legs sweat it's like ripping off a huge bandaid when you stand up lol! And like I said the air conditioning can be kind of uncomfortable especially in the afternoon when the sun is beating down on you and you go from 80 to 60in an instant.

We use tour guide Mike who has an amazing foolproof system that gurantees you no lines in disney so we pretty much see everything in each park in the morning and then go back to the hotel eat lunch, swim, nap, and change for dinner/nightime activities if I'm wearing capris that day I like to change into jeans because at the parades or shopping at night it does get quite cool.

Hope I cleared up the confusion?

You won't need bug spray. I've been at WDW several times in October and never needed it.

Pack a variety of clothing items (long pants, shorts, capris, sleeveless, short-sleeve, sweatshirt, jacket, even a pair of gloves). The weather can vary wildly in October - last year on my 11-day trip, the weather swung from around 60 degrees (during the day!) to mid-90s with high humidity. We had record high temps and record low temps, all on the same trip!

Wish I had packed a few more warm-clothing options; what I wouldn't have given for a pair of knee socks, gloves, and a warm jacket! Hated to buy that stuff since the temperature dropped drastically (and unexpectedly) two days before the end of my trip. It would have cost at least $40 for a warm sweatshirt, even more for a warm jacket, at least $12 for gloves, so I just tried to layer and "make do."

So I'd pack a little of everything, including some warm stuff, and plan to layer.
