I am so excited that we just recently booked our cabin stay at FW for August 19th-30th of 2008! We have never been to FW, but it looked like a fun place to stay. We will be going with DS9 and DD5, and DMIL.

OK, so here's where I am confused :confused3

1. DMIL called me this evening and said she read somewhere that you cannot drive your car up to your cabin. I was wondering if this is true, and if so, is it hard to get all your stuff to the place where you park? We would rather drive to the parks than taking transportation (I think!).

2. If you cannot drive to your cabin, are the golf cart rentals worth it? I see they are something like $35 or $40 per night, if I'm not mistaken?

3. Is there a particular loop that you would recommend. If so, can I call to put in a request for a particular loop?

I think that's it for now. Thanks SO MUCH in advance. I know we're going to love it there, just a little nervous.

You can drive and park your car in the cabin driveway. Only one car per site.

See above + for many the cart rental is worth it. With taxes more like $50.00/day.

Depends on what special requirements you have, if any.

Have a great time waiting and a Happy New Year!

As was said above, you can park your car right at your cabin. You cannot however use it for transportation inside the campground, the exception to this is the 15min parking at Meadows Trading Post for shopping, otherwise there is no place to park inside the campground(except at campsites). If you have more than 1 car it can be brought in to unload and then parked in the overflow lot, near the Reception Outpost(front desk).

The cabin loops are so completely alike that no ONE loop is better than another. I WOULD suggest, however, that if you decide NOT to get a golfcart to request a cabin near the front of the loop so that your walk to the bus stop is minimal. But even if you ARE in the back of a loop, the walk isn't too bad. Its hard under even the worst conditions not to have a great time at the Fort...enjoy yourselves.:thumbsup2

Thank you all so much - you are the best.

Just to clarify, we will be renting a minivan, and we will be able to park it at the cabin, and come and go as we please from the cabin to other parks, Universal, restaurants outside of the parks, etc, right? We just won't be able to use it to get from place to place within FW, right?

Thanks again!!!

Yes, that is right. You can drive around inside the fort and you could use the van to go to the Meadows as mentioned. The other means of transport inside the fort are the internal buses. They are pretty efficient. Renting a cart is expensive but also fun. You could rent one for a non park day, and use it to sightsee around the area, looking at decorations, campsite setups, etc. The cabins also have a large deck with a picnic table and grill. You might want to consider a barbecue dinner while there.
