Country Music Full/Half April 25th, 2009

Pat
I'm training as if I will be running the CMM Full. We'll have to see how work and the economy go before I commit 100%.

Chester

I'm reserved at Hampton Inn/Donelson too. I'm glad I will have something to train for so I can get myself going better this time around.

It will be great to have a WISH Team contingent to share the experience.

Pat,

We're also at the Hampton Inn. I made the reservations when you all did. :)

I'm thinking about doing this one also. If I go it will just be me, so I would be open to sharing a room if that would be helpful to anyone!

I just need to price it out so I can talk to my husband about it, as well as check the schedule. Hopefully I can register/make reservations in the next couple of days.

More fingers crossed for you!! We are going to be an awesome group!

So...any ideas on WISH meets? Dinner on Friday before the races? Or dinner on Saturday wearing our medals? Is anyone familiar with Nashville? I've looked a little bit online, and the General Jackson lunch/dinner cruise looked interesting until I got to the part about the entertainment - the Peking acrobats!! Gee, I can see those in Epcot all the time....I would have thought a Dolly Parton impersonator, or something along those lines would have been more in keeping with Nashville as a destination.

Get thinking team!!

I'm thinking about this one, but it all depends on DD gymnastics. The regional meet is in the area that same weekend. I'm trying to figure out how I can swing both.

I probably won't know until a few weeks in advance. Thankfully this race does not sell out.

I think I have all my fingers AND toes crossed that everyone thinking about CMM can make it happen:thumbsup2 Hope to see you there.

A few words of warning about the Maxwell House.
It's a very nice hotel. I have NO idea why they built it there. (Well at one point there was a this "outdoor" mall near there that went belly up)

There is very little near there and be careful. You will have to drive for pretty much everything unless things have changed in the past two years. You also aren't far from some of the "not so nice" neighborhoods of Nashville so try to stay on the main roads.

Nashville is a fairly safe city, but it is a decent size city with the normal issues.

We will probably stay in Brentwood. I used to live that way, most of my friends still do and I figure we can park at the HCA lots for the start.

We stayed there year before last and they had shuttles everywhere. Shuttles to and from the race and to downtown all weekend long. We are staying there again this year because it is the best rate close to downtown. They have a restaurant in the hotel and they bent over backwards to help us with everything we needed for our weekend.

Our plan is to drive to the finish line and take the shuttles to the start. Then we have a change of clothes and a cooler with food and beverage at the finish so I can stay and watch Lisa finish her first full marathon!!!

We ate at Demo's pre race last year and will try to eat there again this year. They have good food at great prices but it gets super crowded quick so plan to wait.

We've never been to the "free" concert. We always bar hop and enjoy the amazing local talent on the main drag. Dh and I never go out at home and dh is a big country music fan so its a change of pace for us.

Now we just have to figure out what is wrong with my foot then we can start training for my sub 2 half!

Hey guys I am in the "considering" phase of doing this. Just trying to figure out logistics at this point. Now that I have to pay the most money for it! :crazy2:

I'll let you know if I am "in" or not.

Allie, it's calling your name!!!!! Can you hear it? :p

I can't remember what kind of time I put down. I'm thinking around 2:50. :teeth: I can dream, can't I?

Allie, I think I remember that if you register on the 10th of any month you get a discount because it is CMM's 10th anniversary - just something to keep in mind!! I really hope you can make it.

Thanks for that reminder Pat!!!!

I'd have to go back and look again but I thought I read that Debra & DOOD were also thinking of it and now Allie! This race is looking to be a huge party!!!!

I'm going to pester DH with the details of the hotel and such tonight :thumbsup2 Since getting home from WDW I have peppered him with reminders that I want to do this so it is on our calendar just nothing booked or registered yet.

I really really like the fact that the Half is on a Saturday for this race. Gives us the chance to drive home Saturday, spend the night along the way home and enjoy a nice drive :drive: rather than a rushed weekend.

Oh and I seem to recall Dave & Erica being possibles too? I really really need to make this race ::yes::

I picked up a flyer at the Expo and it says you can get $15 off registration with the code ANNIV up until 04/01/09. Hope that works.....I haven't tried it yet.

Awesome!! Anything saved means more to spend at the expo:thumbsup2

Thanks for the code. :thumbsup2 Do you think you could use the code on the 10th, and get a double savings or is it one or the other type deal? Anyway, this might help me convince DH that I need to do this. When is everyone coming in and leaving? I was thinking just coming Fri. and coming back home Sat., but was wondering what everyone else was doing. I need to have all my facts straight before presenting it to DH. ;)

I'm considering coming by myself too. Boarding the dogs and doing something with the kids, might be a little much. Is anyone else coming alone? I may try and get a friend to come join me.

Basically, give me the lowdown. ;)

I don't know if you get an actual discount on the 10th or some other perk. According to the website, if you register on the 10th you are eligible for some special offer. I don't know if it's entry into a sweepstakes or a discount for other merchandise....it's a bit vague. That said, I personally am waiting for the 10th to register. Since the price doesn't go up until April something, I have nothing to lose and maybe something to gain. It's worth a shot.

Thanks! Yeah, I was looking on the website, and there wasn't anything "definite" about what happens on the 10th. That still gives me time to convince DH, and possibly find me a running companion. ::yes::

I was mad when I looked at the price being $100. At least that code brings it down to $85. I think there was a deadline in Jan. for the $85 price, and I was mad that I missed it. Now maybe I can get it anyway. :thumbsup2
