Being from up north, I have never had this southern tradition. Is there anywhere at WDW that I can get it? Or, is it just not worth it? :confused3

Go to Cracker Barrel,it's like one of my favorite restaurants,it seems like they have them like at every other exit on the highways, especially in Florida and the southern states.I usually get Grandpa's Country Fried breakfast which includes the steak, eggs, grits, fried apples or hash brown and biscuits and gravy,I'll eat this at any time since they always serve breakfast. There are several in the Orlando area,I know there's one on 192 just east of Celebration. They also all have really nice stores as you enter with many unique gifts, old time candies and other novelties.

Rainforest has chicken fried chicken, which is just as yummy. :thumbsup2

We are from up north as well (Ohio), and my husband gets country fried steak frequently at IHOP. He claims that it is magical. Yes, he has issues.

I live here in the great south and I can tell you its an aquired taste. But its realy not much to worry about if you can't find it. It is just battered steak fried with gravy and onions over it. I think it is really kind of bland. But if your dying to have it go off property and find a common resturant like Dennys they will prob have it.

It's not really anything special, although I do think it's quite good if you're in the mood.

Don't y'all have an IHOP or Dennys? They serve it there.

Yes, this is a great option...they have WONDERFUL country fried steak (and the best corn bread...mmmmmm!)...Chili's (of all places) also has great country fried steak if you have a vehicle to go off site.

The OP may want to check their local Chilli's for a pretty passable Country Fried Steak.

Yes, chili's has a good version. So does Crackel Barrel...I love their biscuitus too...and their hashbrowns...:thumbsup2

I never remember seeing it on menus at any of these places here. I'll have to double-check! Thanks, everybody! :)

This southern boy loves his country fried steak, but sadly I've never seen it at WDW. I agree with some of the above posters that Chili's has a really good version, although I have never had Cracker Barrells. No one makes it better than my mom though:)

Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, fried okra, sweet tea, and hot peach or blackberry cobbler with homemade ice cream. All good southern dishes that make up a delicious (though unhealthy) meal. YUM!!!!:cloud9:

Sweet tea, now your talking...I grew up on it (and I am from Indiana)! It is so hard to find sweet tea out anywhere around here... it is just not the same if the sugar is not added when it is hot. McDonald's has a pretty good version now, but the best is McAllister's Deli...made just like it should be!

As a born and raised Southern girl, nobody could make Country Fried Steak like my grandpa (who passed away almost 15 years ago). So...I have pretty high standards on the CFS. Cracker Barrel has a great version that makes me happy. Trust me, it has to be good for me to make that recommendation. High standards, remember?

(To tell the truth, I make a pretty darned good CFS and biscuits, myself. :goodvibes )
