Country Bear Jamboree

I have only seen CBJ one time and I found it to be pretty cute. Yes, it's outdated and very corny but I enjoyed the nostalgia of that. I do also LUV Caroussel of Progress! It's outdated and very corny but that's what I like about it too. Maybe a refurbishment for the bears is in order - and maybe update the show - but please don't get rid of them!

I like it, don't love it, for nastolga reasons. It was one of the last thing Walt himself put his stamp of approval on (for the defunct resort in the mid west) and to me that says something. I loved the Christmas show and think they could ramp up interest in CBJ if they would start doing it again. We don't see it every trip but still visit every few years.

We go to the CBJ every summer and I don't think I saw the entire show once. We always go to escape the heat and the air conditioning puts us to sleep.

I still enjoy the Country Bear Jamboree, however I agree that it is in major need of a facelift or like another poster said "TLC". Maybe Disney doesn't want to spend the money as they don't plan to keep it...who knows?? I think that part of the reason I enjoy it is Nostalgia too.

I love the CB's and am so glad WDW still kept it around as DL replaced it with Pooh.

It's a must do each year because it is typical disney entertainment. It is alot of fun, has great characters and is family freindly. But, saying that, it does need to be upgraded as some of the bears look a little too worn. :surfweb:

I'm surprised so many people like this. I've been going to WDW since I was 2 or 3 and it doesn't hold any nostalgia for me (although, there are rides that do). Then again, I'm also one of those that couldn't give a hoot about Dumbo and that's pretty much sacrilege to say around here. LOL

We went this past June (first time w/ the kids, so thought I'd do it again after not going for many years) -- talk about CHEESE. My 7 year old found humor in it just out of its sheer corny-ness. If you want a break from the heat, go check it out, but otherwise, WHY?! :confused3

Because the beauty of disney is that there is SOMETHING for everyone..I hate Soarin and could care less if they bulldozed Space mountain, but there are lots of people that love those rides and I respect that.Different strokes for different folks.

For us, CBJ is a must each trip. Why? Cause (in all seriousness)...it's like looking at my family. My family is originally from the backwoods of Virginia....think Skyline Drive, I-81 territory. I love it there and the people, and hearing the music reminds me of there. Also, my mother (who has never been to any Disney resort or park) LOVES this attraction. I go for her and get the obligatory pics for her.

So, tradition on one hand, fun on the other. But, yes, I would agree a Woody's Roundup something or other might be interesting as well.

I LOVE the Country Bear Jamboree! It's a classic and one of Walt's original ideas! We always do this at least once a trip and it always makes me sad when we go and we're one of only a few families in the theatre. I remember even when I first started going in the early 2000s the theatre would always be pretty much full. It saddens me that so many people skip classics like these in favor of 'thril rides' and rides with modern technologies. :confused3

Loved it for the first two or three years after it first opened in Disneyland (CA)! It was very different from anything else at the time (WDW was in the planning stages, I think). Once the novelty wore off, though, not so much.

I did enjoy CBJ at WDW with the holiday overlay--I think in 2004. It was the first time I saw it dressed for the holidays!

Well, I might not like it, but it's not like I said they should "bulldoze" it or anything. :rotfl: I don't care if they keep it (and I'm not implying that they should replace it), it's just not entertaining to me. Just like CoP is my cup of tea, but not other people's -- I get it! :thumbsup2

What time of year do you usually go? When we were there in June, the theater was full. :goodvibes

At least it has nostalgia going for it!

If you want to see something truly awful, check out Nemo the Musical in AK. That show is horrible to watch and painful to hear!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I completely agree about the Nemo Musical! DW and I went last trip and I never want to go again and I love the movie. DW liked it, though, so I may have to endure it again.

I'm a big fan of the Country Bears and Carousel of Progress, both for nostalgia and for the classic Disney feel. :)

I do enjoy the Country Bears. We do that attraction every trip. Sure, it's corny; we know all the jokes; etc. But still, it is something me and my family enjoy doing once each trip. I would hate to see it go.

As others have posted, we love the CBJ and CoP for the sheer nostalgia and Disney "feel." Our favorite time is during the late EMH, after midnight. Usually, only true fans are in there and sing along.

Our kids hate it, but I think that is because they are teenagers and they think teenagers are supposed to hate CBJ! I honestly think when they get older, they will appreciate it a little more.

Loooovvve it!!!
And MusicCityMama, are you aware that the voice of Big Al is Tex Ritter, who had a hit with Blood on the Saddle about a million years ago. That alone is worth the price of admission.

...the voice of Big Al is Tex Ritter, who had a hit with Blood on the Saddle about a million years ago.

Tex (who had a major career in classic C&W music) was also the father of the late John (Three's Company) Ritter, and grandfather to actor Jason Ritter who starred in the TV series "Joan of Arcadia" and is a semi-regular in the new Ron Howard/NBC series "Parenthood."

Tex started a legacy!

We love CBJ...we go and laugh at the corniness of it. It gives us a break from the heat. And most importantly, my sister, who has hydrocephalus and CP, just loves the girl bear that comes out of the ceiling. She can't walk or talk, but she just laughs and smiles at this part. It is by far her favorite part of WDW. Nothing beats seeing her smile!! :) OT-she totally loves the bubbles from the jimmy neutron ride at Universal too!! :lmao:
