Country Bear Jamboree

I agree that this attraction is in need of some serious TLC. I think it would be more appealing if it was cleaned up some. It reminds me of a scene from the Goofy Movie when Goofy takes his son to the Possum World place (or whatever its called). The show they see has animatronics that you can see/hear falling apart during the show. Its sad, honestly.

I could take it or leave it, as could most of my family. Even though its classic Disney, and it does hold memories/nostalgia, I would love to see something new. Of course, I'm one of those who loves CoP, hates Tiki Room, loves IASW, and hates HoP :) I guess we all have our favorites and not-so favorites.

I've never been a fan of this attraction, but it's one of my mother's favorites so I have always been accustomed of being dragged to it time after time. However, on our last trip she actually fell asleep during the show (really, Mom, SNORING! How embarrassing!) But even with all that being said, I'd hate to see it replaced for the same reason I cringe whenever classics are removed. Good or bad, I still have plenty of memories with this attraction!

Never miss it. Love the songs too.

As a California and DL girl, I was heartbroken when they removed CBJ at DL and replaced it with Pooh. This show had amazing memories for me, seeing it as a kid, watching my friends fall asleep during the show at Grad Night (one has since passed away so it really touches me to think about it), and taking my kids to see it when they were too little to ride Splash Mountain next door. I saw it again and again when my kids were little. Having the moose at the end of the Pooh ride at DL is an insult for us! Hate that ride (it's different at DL than DW).

I can't wait to see my old friends, the Country Bears, when we return to DW in March. It's been tooooo long!
As much as I love the Bears, I'd have gladly given them up to Pooh instead of what WDW lost for him; Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. And to make it worse, Toad was one of the few attractions at both parks where the WDW version was the better one. When we did DL in 2008, it was the first attraction we went on.

Love the Bears, as does everyone in my family (especially the kids) and everyone I've ever brought to WDW. CBJ is a classic must do for us, and one of the most fun communal participation attractions in the park. I hope they maintain it well and keep it as it is, a la the DL Tiki Room. I can tell you that the DL CBJ is missed, and Max, Buff and Melvin get a wave from all of us whenever we exit the Heffalump room in its replacement.

None of us like it. My husband thinks it's not that bad but my kids hated it and I would be just fine if I never see it again.

It was my Dad's favorite attraction. So I visit CBJ every trip in his honor.

I recall not liking CBJ as a kid, but my Dad loved it so we always had to see it.
Now as an adult, it holds a special place in my heart!:lovestruc

My Dad is the reason I'm such a Disney fan - back in the day, he was an avid Disney-lover/expert!

My father used to sing Blood on the Saddle when I was growing up. My sisters and I thought it was some stupid song he made up and wouldn't believe him when he said it was a real song. Can you imagine the looks on our faces when we saw CBJ for the first time and heard Big Al sing that? That's why I go every time(or almost every time) I visit the MK,and why I bawled like a baby when I "met" Big Al in March 2008. I don't ever want to see that attraction gone.

I had a very similar experience with my daddy and that song. I go to see the CBJ every trip just because of my dad and I hope they never replace this nostalgic attraction.

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was a classic too and that didn't stop it from being sent to the trash heap. I vaguely remembered CBJ from my childhood (late 70s) but didn't realize all the cringe moments until I took my DSs this year. Hearing my 9 yr old DS singing "blooood on the saddddleee" afterward was somewhat amusing, however.

Love it, Loveit, Love it:goodvibes
I remember going with my whole family at 6 years old and I am now 35. I wouldn't miss it. I am kind of sad they don't do the Christmas show anymore. We were able to see it once and I thought it was really cute.

I have not seen CBJ in years. Well decades. Quite a few decades. :scared1::laughing:

In all of our trips back to the 90's the DW and now the kids have NEVER seen CBJ. We almost saw it last trip but the kids were wanting to get on a ride.

I hope our next trip we will see CBJ and Hall of Presidents. They have not seen HoP either.

My mom liked/loved CBJ. We walked pass the Ticki Room a trip or so ago and my mom does not remember seeing the show. Though *** I *** remember her and my aunt dragging us in to see the birds. :scared1::rotfl:

The kids have not seen the Ticki Room so maybe next trip it should be on our To Do List. Especially with Grandma. Maybe if she sees the show she will remember it. :lmao:

Of the kids do those three things I think they will FINALLY have seen and done everything at MK. It will have taken all of the trips since 2007 plus one more. :)

My impression of the animatronics has changed over the years. It is not as impressive as it was when I saw it as a kids. The animatronics back then were magical. But today when technology is just all around us and part of almost every little detail of our lives I think the animatronics loose some of the awesomeness I felt as a child.

Having said that, my kids love CoP. Which really surprises me. I will be very curious to see what they think of Ticki and CPJ.

Later,
Dan

Surprised at all of the dislike for Carousel of Progress (although I readily admit it needs an update), Hall of Presidents (if you haven't seen it since the 2009 refurbishment, you shouldn't judge it until you do), and Country Bear Jamboree (also refurbished in 2009 and now in better condition, but not substantively different like HoP). These rate as three of my favorite attractions in WDW; ones that are not only classics for nostalgic reasons, but also have great substantive content and aren't just flashy technology or thrills.

I guess with the dumbing down of society and shorter attention spans, sooner or later they will all bite the dust. Until then, I'll enjoy each multiple times per trip.

LOVE the bears!! I have fond memories of it as a child. My parents tell me that in the early 70s when I was a toddler, I stood on one of the benches and danced during the entire show. I apparently have always loved the show.:rotfl:

Now I get to experience it with my DD3. When we were there in January, we walked out of the Tiki room and were just walking by the side of the CBJ building. My little girl says "Mommy, that's where Big Al lives". I told her she was right and we kept walking...for about 15 steps. Then I realized what I had just heard her say on our first day of vacation. She realized where she was without seeing the actual entrance or the sign or anything. That's how much she likes the show...she knows exactly which building is the bears house! Going back on Monday and she has already told me that she can't wait to see them.

I like the very simplicity and sweetness of the CBJ even though it could stand to be changed up a bit. I think that a redo might just freshen the bears up.

Besides I love Big Al. He's priceless IMO. :)

My woman ain't pretty but she don't swear none!

Momma don't whoop little Buford.

CBJ is great! It is a must see every time we go. It is one of those attractions that make WDW what it is today. Sometimes when you get rid of the old and try to replace it with the new it takes away that special Disney magic. Maybe a refurb but I hope they never close it

My almost 17 yr old loves this which suprises me he hates country music but he finds the show funny.. to each his own I guess.. DH and i go for a solo trip in Sept and it is one of the attractions we plan on skipping!

I remember the CBJ as a kid at Disneyland, then DL got rid of it my kids love the movie and I can't wait for them to see it at DW:) you can't get rid of all the classics...

Actually, it opened at WDW before it opened at DL, so you couldn't have seen it in the 60s. But it was developed in the 60s for the Mineral King ski resort in CA. When that fell through, it sat until it opened at WDW.

OK it was 1972 when it opened at DL. I was off by a couple of years. ;)
