I'm not usually very sentimental but after reading MinkyDogs recent post, I thought I should reflect on my own blessings ~ two happy healthy kids who I adore and who love me as well, my son home on leave from the Air Force hanging with his five other military friends who are also home, my daughter who spent every cent she has made babysitting on gifts for myself, her brother, and her Dad.

DS was much too generous again as he tends to be at Christmas. I guess he figures this gets him off the hook for Mom's Day and my birthday (both of which he hasn't acknowledged since his was a little boy). He bought me an IpodTouch and then spent lots of time this morning showing me how to use it:) DD bought me lots of little things that I like and needed and showed how much thought she put into her gifts.

I hope everyone else is enjoying their holiday as much as I am!

Awww, don't you just love it when they do that. So glad your young man is home. It sometimes takes boys a looooonng time to grow up. My brother was a piece of work, until he came to his senses and joined the Navy. He was 27. Military service was the best thing that ever happened to him, and he'll tell you that right up front. Glad you're having a great Christmas.

My blessings:

My mum is here. This is the biggest blessing of all, as after being diagnosed with end stage terminal cancer in June, we never expected her to make it this long. She's weak, and she sleeps a lot, but she's here and I'm cherishing every moment! :cloud9:

Last night we went to my aunts house for our traditional Christmas Eve family dinner. It was wonderful! The family was kind and supportive when my mum needed to have a nap, and the evening was relaxing and comfortable. :grouphug:

This year my husband and I did gifts to charity. He picked one he thought I would like and I picked one I though he would like. When we did the reveal, I had donated to providing clean water to the family of a young girl (I'm big on promoting woman's rights) and he supported Scientists Without Boarders. :goodvibes We loved talking about why we picked what we did, and I think we'll carry on the tradition.

This afternoon, my DH made lemon pie. He makes, hands down, the best pie crust ever! We're going out to a movie in a few hours and then will come home to lemon pie! Mmmm!

All my girlfriends came over on the 19th to have a party with my mum, and it was another quiet, wonderful evening. They all love her and I know she felt very loved that night. :lovestruc

Thanks to a lot of hard work, we're almost debt free!

Lastly, I got a Kindle! Christmas is not about material things, but goodness I love this thing!

All in all, I'm pretty blessed! :goodvibes
