Counter Service Question

We will be using the dining plan in May, 3 adults and 2 kids (according to Disney  )

I was checking out counter service menus.

Many of the kids menus don't have cheeseburgers, which are the out-to-eat meal choice for my sons.

Can my kids get choices from the regular menu at CS places or does the "children must order from the children's menu where available" apply to counter service also?

I was specifically looking at Cosmic Rays in the MK if that makes a difference.

Thanks experts!

Yes, even in counter service places, the kids must order from the kid's menu -- and each of them do have a kid's menu. Actually, Pizza Planet in MGM did not. That was the only one that I saw.

we were there in June 2005 and had 2 adults, 1 child, & 1 infant. My DD is the same as she loves cheeseburgers. At Cosmic Ray's she specifically orderedc the cheeseburger not from the kids meal. She was happy and so were we. Sorry if some think that is cheating but she ordered what she was hungry for regardless of kids/adult menu.

and if possible have kids and an adult wait at a table. They really arent going to send the disney cops on you if you order 5 adult meals at cs time. They are your credits to use as you like, if disney isnt setting it up to designate on the cards use as you wish. DD didnt like the kids breakfast choices so I got an adult meal and we shared. Do some people flame for this, oh yeah! But disney doesnt desinate on the card it gave us 21 ts, 21 cs and 21 snacks. NOt 14ts,14cs 14 snck and 7k ts, 7k cs and 7k sncks. If you were paying cash would you order them the cheese burger? Then go ahead as you have paid for this plan already.

I was wondering if we all had to sit there together and order the counter service meals together. There is no way I want to wait in line with my kiddies at my feet. I usually send hubby to do the ordering and picking up. In fact we are two adult and two kids and I plan to send him to get three adult meals for our lunches as my kids will easily split a meal. This way we can save some of those counter service meals for a quick breakfast at the resort.

I have read that you get some kind of dessert with the CS meals. Is that true? It does not say that in the description of the CS meals. Am I mistaken?

Sorry, but that is very dishonest since you only paid $10.99 (or will pay when price goes up) for your child's meal credit, yet you are ordering an adult entree - not playing by the rules which only means that all of us honest people will pay for it in the future - thanks a lot! It's amazing to me how dishonest some people are just to save a few bucks. I bet these same people wouldn't be so honest if Disney just so happened to undercharge you for your room or give you extra credits by mistake.

We were there for a week, and no one had a problem with me ordering an adult CS for my son (we had 3A and 2C -- our kids are 8, 9, & 11) -- and most times we all stood in line together. The kids' choices are very limited (usually only 2 choices! :confused3 ) and very small for a larger 9 year old boy (our son is almost 5 ft tall and 95lbs). The difference in price is really not that much -- for example, at Pecos Bill's the 2 kids meal choices (mini hotdogs in baked beans, or cold chicken w/carrots & celery) are 3.99; the cheeseburger is 5.79. I would have happily paid the $2.20 if Disney felt we cheated them out of it.

My daughter ate a combo of kids meals and adult CS, depending on what she was hungry for. We got adult CS meals at Pecos Bill, Columbia Harbor House, Sunshine Seasons, food court at CBR, Tusker House.

Both kids who were considered kids on the DP ordered off the child menu at TS.

Have a great trip! :wave2:

Yes, you get a drink, a side, and a dessert (that's everyone -- even the kids). The only place that didn't have much was Pecos Bill's -- they just had one choice - a peanut butter brownie (and DS is allergic to Peanuts).

Pizza Planet had AWESOME and HUGE chocolate chip cookies. Cosmic Rays had a brownie, and some type of triple chocolate cake that was really good.

I just ordered DD what I knew she would eat whether it came from kids menu or adult menu. Call me dishonest or whatever but I want my kid to eat and if they don't offer what she likes then I will find something that she does. I even had her standing beside me and nobody ever told me that I couldn't, and I didn't ask.

I was going to order a kids meal for my DD6 on the dining plan on our first day and the CM advised me to get the adult so that my girls could share.Like another poster said I would have been glad to pay the difference.

I was wondering this too. We will be 3 adults and 2 kids when we use the plan in Oct. When we were there 4 weeks ago we ate CS lunch mostly every day and I think only once or twice did one of my kids (9, 7, 3) eat from the kids menu-no cheeseburgers was a biggie for my DD 3- we just ordered her the "adult" burger. They really are not that big. She ate about 90% of it every time and she's not a huge eater.

I was wondering if I'd have to order an adult cheeseburger and give it to her, or if they would let me pay the difference between a kids meal and an adult meal? Someone said have one adult go and order all the food. Are you saying that 1 adult could order 5 "adult" CS meals every day?

There is some designation. We had 2 adults and 1 kid in each of 2 rooms. I had both cards with me, but I learned the first time I went to a CS place that I had to order 2 adult meals and 1 kid's meal for each card per visit. I could not order 3 adult meals on 1, and then 1 adult and 2 kids on the other. They checked my card everywhere I went to see how many "adult" and how many "kid" meals I was entitled to on that card. It worked out fine, but I always had to take someone's card from the other room when I ordered for everyone.

They are your credits to use as you like, so you can eat all your snacks in one day if you would like.
