DS9 and I will arrive at our resort between 1 and 2pm on our arrival day. We will need to eat a late lunch at the food court. I am sure that we will be starving (we will have spent luch time on the plane :( ). We love the chicken quesadillas at All-Star Sports End Zone (I wish I had one right now)!!! (ooohh gettin' off track)

We will probably relax and swim for awhile, and I am thinking that Fantasia Gardens would make a nice arrival day activity. I remember last summer that it turned out to be quite a hike by foot from the Swan. After our "golf game" I was thinking a nice stroll on the Boardwalk. By then it will be dinner time but instead of a long sit down dinner, I was thinking counter service. (We have so many great TS plans already!!)

Anyone familiar with the Boardwalk area have any suggestions for counter service (including inside Swan & Dolphin, Boardwalk, and other area resorts)? I was pretty interested in Boardwalk to Go but there was not much info on that on wdwinfo or allears. I want our first day to be fun, but I would like it to be laid back as well.

All advice welcome, Pics and Menus...even better!!!!

Thanks in advance for your help - Jenn

If you're not on the DP consider Beaches and Cream. Priced closer to CS with great desserts and ADRs are not taken, so walk up is the only way to go. If you are on the DP it is a TS credit so you'd have to decide OOP or credit.

Thanks, I have considered Beaches & Cream. We aren't big sweets eaters, but maybe if we split a meal and then an ice cream - that might be a nice treat!

Anyone else...

pics welcome!!!

Boardwalk to Go is a great place for counter service. Mostly hot dogs and fries but they also have sausage and chicken sandwiches (one grilled, one breaded). And a meatball sandwich. We think the hot dogs here are one of the best values at Disney World. There are tables and chairs right next to it.

If you aren't in the mood for hot dogs, the Spoodles take out window with pizza (whole pies or slices). If you've really had a long day, the sangria here is REALLY good.

You can also get a combination of both of these places since the tables and chairs serve either one.

Thank you so much. I was interested mainly in Boardwalk to go -- but now Spoodle's take out window sounds pretty interesting. ...::yes:: It is nice to have choices. ..

Keep 'em comin'!!!
Thanks so much.

I liked Picabu at the Dolphin. It's a "buffeteria". Granted, the chicken pot pie was not that huge...

...it hit the spot and I found it tasty.

But I have a pic of a "lunch" that could feed a small third world nation and then some...

I can see someone sharing that and then getting some really good dessert items either at the Boardwalk Bakery or Beaches and Cream. ;)

Yummmmmmmyyy.........
The pics look great and were very helpful. I looked at Picabu's menu which is a litlle pricey for cs (that chicken pot pie was $11!!), but we could split the larger meal, as you suggested.

So now we have Picabu's, Spoodle's window and Boardwalk to Go.

Our plan is to play mini-golf, grab a bite to eat and stroll the Boardwalk.

I think this will be a fun way to begin our trip especially now that I see our number of dining options.

I would love to have more pics and hear from anyone else who has done this.

The Boardwalk Bakery also has three types grilled panini sandwiches. I've only eaten the veggie version, but it is great! We have often had a casual family dinner on the Boardwalk by picking up a sandwich from the Bakery, some waffle fries with cheese from Boardwalk to Go, and pizza from the Spoodles window. There are tables and benches all along the way, lots of entertainment, and lots of dessert options!

Thanks Eeyore's Pal - a little bit of it all is a fun idea - especially knowing that there are tables all around.
