Counter Service In Theme Parks???

We ate our first DDP meal at Cosmic Ray's in the MK. You can't beat the entertainment and I was surprised by all the food we got for a CS meal.

Question for Deb --- You had said Starring Rolls is a good choice for a CS meal for MGM. I went to allears to check out their menu & it does look good. The only thing is, it doesn't appear to be on their list of CS restaurants who accept the DP. Did you use the DP to eat there? I'm hoping maybe they are new to the list? Thanks! --- Lisa

Starring Rolls is indeed on the list, and has been since the beginning. It's right there below Sci-Fi Dine-In.

I see it is listed under Sci-Fi on the Menus from Around the World listing on Allears. But when I click on "Magic Your Way Dining Plan Restaurants HERE", that brings up a colored grid which does not list Starring Rolls. Am I looking at the wrong list? Thanks again! --- Lisa

I'm checking in the actual brochures. Check the links in the FAQ thread in this forum.

Here are our favorite CS locations in the parks:

Animal Kingdom -- FlameTree BBQ
Magic Kingdom -- Pecos Bill's
EPCOT -- Tangierine Cafe
MGM -- Still trying to find a decent CS!!!

Wow exactly what I was going to post, including MGM.

We ate there in June. The dining plan definately covered it then. We each got a sandwich a piece of fruit (or a bag of chips) a dessert and a bottle of water.

Thanks Bicker & Deb. I'm glad Starring Rolls accepts the DP. Their menu looks more appealing that the other CS restaurants at MGM.

EPCOT
Oh good, someone mentioned the Fish & Chips in England. We always eat here, even when not on the dining plan.

We've eaten in Mexico and it is just OK. They have a CS in Germany, have not eaten there and one in China. Have done America for burgers, but that was prior to the re-hab - hopefully it has improved.

When getting burgers at Epcot we like the Electric Umbrella, but only go during meal times. The previously made burgers have a bit to be desired. The fresh ones are good.

MGM - BackLot but like America go when they are cooking the food, the previously cooked food is just OK. One trip we went there twice, one was great the other was horrible. Lunch great - late dinner not so.

AK - the best counter service places - and they have no TS except for the character breakfast place. Flame tree is always a must.

MK - we like Columbia House. Pecos Bill's has a lot of good reviews, but I think we had burgers that were previously made.

Enjoy

We have always enjoyed Pizzafari at Animal Kingdom. I can't vouch for the pizza (although DH is a fan), but I LOVE the hot italian sandwich. I also like that it has a ton of indoor seating, and even in the busiest days it's not that crowded (at least for us)

We also really like Columbia Harbor House and Pecos Bills at MK.

Our experiance wasn't great at the Sunshine Seasons--super crowded and loads of bugs flying around, but the food was OK. I think I'd prefer something else. We're planning on trying Tangerine Cafe this time around.

I don't think we've ever eaten a CS at MGM becuase nothing ever seemed good...
