Hi all! We'll be doing mainly counter service meals during our upcoming trip. I'm pretty much set for AK (Flame Tree BBQ) and Epcot (munching our way through the WS), and MK (Pecos Bills or Cosmic Rays). I've checked out the menus at wdwig.com, but nothing is standing out for MGM . Care to offer any suggestions? TIA! DU

We like the ABC Commissary. Check the menu out, it has a little more variety than many of the other counter service locations. When we have been, there were plenty of tables available and its all indoors.

Another vote for the ABC Commissary.

The Commisary is probably the best choice. Air conditioned and pretty good food. The food court at Sunset Boulevard is pretty good too with it's variety of food options but, being outside can get hot in the afternoon. The settings at Pizza Plannet and Backlot Express are pretty good for atmosphere, but the food is fairly average pizza and burgers.

I really like the commissary too, especially the veggie noodle stir fry!!

I had a cheeseburger here in November that was absolutely inedible - and I eat just about anything! Luckily my kids shared their chicken fingers and fries. Go with the Commissary.

We really like Pizza Planet -- the Woody combo has a personal pepperoni pizza which is a good size, and a salad with dressing, and a drink. Everything was fresh, good ingredients and REAL cheese, crispy lettuce, ripe tomatoes. I'm not a big pizza fan, but I really enjoyed this place. And the kids played in the arcade while we lingered over our meal.

If you have kids, Pizza Planet is both a good and bad choice. The food is good and portions are large.

The bad side is that this is also an arcade so if you have children who are into video games you will end up losing all your quarters and may have a hard time getting them out of there!:D

We generally eat at Sunset Ranch Marketplace, it is an outdoor eating area on left right before TOT and RaR. My DS(10) loves the footlong hotdogs, my other DS(12) can order a burger or pizza, and I can have a baked potatoe.

Can't believe all the votes for ABC Commissary. We had a lousy lunch there in October. The place was a mess, food was expensive, small portions, and pretty bad. Maybe they were just having a bad day. We have done much better at Sci-Fi and Prime Time, although they are pretty pricey.

If you like soup, Min and Bill's Dockside Diner now offers 4 different kinds. I haven't tried any of them, but they had a decent variety (veg chili, clam chowder, chicken, and corn chowder, I think...)
I usually don't do counter service @ studios... but when I do, it's either Pizza Planet or ABC Commisary.

I don't remember the name of the place but I like the cold meat & sub sandwiches at the exit of the HISTK playground. Nice change of pace from burgers & dogs.

Studio Catering Company. They also sell popcorn and ice cream.
