Countdown to the Clown! A September PTR - Updated 9/13 - TR LINK

Should we keep this pace up and post again?

Sure! Why not! :goodvibes

What else could that title mean other than the very lovely Advanced Dining Reservations? I love eating at Disney. Some of the food is just okay, but some of it is very good. Plus, often times it’s just pretty to look at!

We are not on the Dining Plan, we don’t like to be committed to it and plan our trips around the meals – we enjoy the flexibility with a little one. Plus, we always end up saving money when we don’t use it.

Our first ADR will be on our 3rd day of the trip, Saturday, September 4. I had a much coveted, loved and desired Crystal Palace breakfast at 8:05 for this day…but I canceled it. It caused me a great deal of anguish and pain. However, I canceled it because of two very special ADRs that I did get, and we didn’t want too much booked. One of those very special ADRs is the

WISHES DESSERT PARTY!

How I love thee. :lovestruc

This party is awesome. Unlimited eats and beverages, PLUS we have a seat for Wishes and do not have to corral a small child on the curb of Main Street. Worth every single penny!

Our second ADR is the next day, Sunday, September 5. Dinner at Rose & Crown! We have never eaten here, but from all the rave reviews over the past 8 months of it, it just had to make the list. I read Joe the menu one evening and he didn’t even have to hear it all – he was all about it! The reservation is for 6:55 pm, and hopefully our meal will take long enough that we can enjoy Illuminations at 9:00 pm from our table or the patio. Again, corralled child. It’s a good thing. :thumbsup2

The third ADR is the following day, Monday, September 6. This was the second very special ADR that I made – the Grand Floridian Tea!

I am very excited about this!! It will be our second time doing the tea, and hopefully it will go smoother. Last time, if you read the report you may recall Henry’s reaction during the entire tea:

and he would stop crying when we pulled him out of the chair, but…

he kept leaving the room! Joe and I ended up enjoying the tea separately, taking turns walking around the lobby with Henry. Still, we loved it. Hopefully this time we can all enjoy it together. And if Henry starts throwing a fit, I’ll be more prepared with a “Mommy bag o distractions”. :rolleyes1

The next day, Tuesday, September 7 brings us to our fourth ADR, and it is a dinner at Mama Melrose! We had this ADR booked way back in November 2008, but ended up canceling because we were both sick that trip – and we just could NOT stomach food that day. We have wanted to try it since. Joe loves him some Italian food, hopefully this does not disappoint!

And our fifth and final ADR is for the next day, Wednesday, September 8. We have a breakfast booked at Cape May Café….where I will have my first ever Mickey waffle!

I debated back and forth between this and the Crystal Palace – I gotta have a breakfast buffet! Eventually Cape May won out. It’s something different and new, it gets excellent reviews – plus the characters in their beach gear are just too dern cute! And as a huge, huge, HUGE, bonus – it’s at the Beach Club, just steps from the Boardwalk. Love that.

As for counter services we keep that pretty flexible on whatever we are feeling at the moment. One is required.

::yes::

And hopefully we will get to see this guy, because he's just plain fun:

We also have some loose plans to check out Via Napoli, the new pizza place in Italy. Joe can’t say no to pizza, so if this place is good, we might be there more than once! (I'll eat there once, after that I'll be hitting up the rest of the WS! I like pizza, but not as much as he!) If the new Mexican place is open, we’ll surely check that out too – we LOVE Mexican. And Beaches & Cream is loosely on the list as well. It's steps away from the Boardwalk, and oh, so tasty.

As for snacks…well, that will be another update...

Great line up, Brooke. We LOVE Cape May for breakfast (it's much more laid back and better character interaction; although CP is still our favorite); we really like Rose & Crown and although Mama Melrose gets hit/miss reviews, we have never had a bad meal here (and our service has always been outstanding).

If you want to help stretch it out, first order a drink, then decide on an appetizer, then finally your meal. If you need to, you could always order a dessert. You should be fine - I think all our ressies at RNC were around 7 or 7:15 and we were always there for Illuminations.

And our fifth and final ADR is for the next day, Wednesday, September 8. We have a breakfast booked at Cape May Café….where I will have my first ever Mickey waffle!

WHAT?!:scared1: You've NEVER had a Mickey Waffle? They are truly the best. I love them...the little ones are good, but I like the big ones at AKL best. They are just a pain to try and put any type of butter on! :rotfl:

We'll be hitting Cape May possibly this upcoming trip as well. Hope it's good.

Ahh... food, glorious food. Definitely an important part of the Disney experience. You've got some great ones planned.

I really liked R&C a lot! Here's a hint- "duchess potatoes" are code for cheesy potatoes! :thumbsup2

Can't believe you've never had a mickey waffle! I actually don't like the taste of syrup so my favorite way to eat them is with powdered sugar. BTW- you can get a big one with either sugar or cinnamon in the MK at the Sleepy Hollow refreshments stand. :cloud9:

I'm with you on Via Napoli. Although I'm so bummed there isn't going to be a take-out window. That would have been great. The Disney Food Blog has some photos today if you haven't seen them. They're also reporting on new gourmet hot dogs...

So excited for your trip!! :yay:

Great ADRs. You know how much I love Rose & Crown and I was pleasantly surprised at Mama Melrose's in January. It was very good! Much better than I thought it would be.

I love all of the traditions you do with Henry, it is so cute to see how much he has grown. One tradition we try and do every trip to disney is get a pic with our son standing next to the todem pole with humphrey and donald on it at the Wilderness Lodge. :goodvibes

Loved all the family traditions. We have a few but haven't ever pulled photos together in one place so you've given me the idea now! We took a series pictures of DD with her first Mickey as she grew and I think I ought to do another one of these sometime soon as well :)

I've was a bit late getting caught up over here but glad to see a GF tea on your ADRs. We love this :lovestruc and will definitely do it at some point this trip. We're staying there so I haven't actually made an ADR yet, in the past it's seemed quiet enough to just walk up but actually might get that ADR just in case. Maybe that day is another possible day/venue for a meet?

I'm here, I'm here! :) The plans looks great and the food looks delicious! Can't wait for more Brook.

Brook, the tradition photos of Henry are so cute!!! It's fun to see him from past trips and see how big he is getting. It will be fun to see how big he's gotten on your trip next month!

We head down in less than 2 weeks... think we might melt?? ;) I have this crazy idea that a cool wave will hit Orlando and it will not be humid! :rotfl: Wishful thinking, right??!! :) I might have to give your corndogs a try this time... I'll tell them that you'll be with them shortly! ;)

Hope u have a mahvelous time dahlink. I looove The Boardwalk but will NOT stay there because of that *&&& clown. My granddaughter who knows nothing of Stephen King says no i don't want to stay at the clown place.:scared1:

Wow, you've been an updating fiend the last couple of days!

ADRs look good, and I love the Traditions pictures. My favorite is the last one...I never thought to have a photopass photographer get a picture of me eating in front of the castle!

I'm a bit late to the party but I love your reports and as I'm planning a trip to BWV next year I couldn't miss this one. Sounds great so far. :thumbsup2

:scared1: You are already on page 8!!

I am just here to subscribes, so when I find time to read everything that happened on the DIS during my 10 days away, I will find your PTR! I am so excited that you can go on that trip!! :goodvibes

Great update BE. Add me to the list of pleasantly surprised Mama Melrose patrons. We really enjoyed our meal there. Looking forward to more.

I'm here Brook!! Sorry I'm so late!! Going back to catch up! Can't wait to hear all about your September trip!

What great ADRs Brook!! YUMMMY!!! I adore Rose and Crown and can't wait to get back there! I know you guys will love it!

I too will be keeping an eye out on the new restaurant in Italy, the menu sounds so yummy!

which resort are you staying at in St Lucia? We stayed at the Windjammer Landing...we really liked it!

My parents ate at Cape MAy for breakfast our last day! They paid OOP since we were on the dining plan and out of credits! THey said they would not pay for it OOP again but then again it was just the 2 of them and the grandsons were not there with them! We tried to get in for dinner one night but could not until 8pm and that was way too late for both boys to eat. BUt i have heard the buffet is excellent!

We have a breakfast booked at Cape May Café….where I will have my first ever Mickey waffle!

Say whaaaaat??? Shouldn't your DIS membership be revoked?? :lmao: You will love the waffles! It's funny how a different shape makes them taste so much better!

I can't wait to hear about the Cape May breakfast, because we have a reservation for it in November for the first time.

I have thought about the dessert wishes party, but keep deciding against it. But maybe I should think about it again.
