Countdown to October Trip and Food and Wine Festival!!

Well I have been going thru the menus too and see some things interesting but the things I liked in the past that are gone(crab cake at Hops and Barley replaced with lobster, I can get lobster here for 3.99 lb not 6-7 for a claw) and other things from last year , Shrimp pasta dish at Italy and shimp cake at Singapore.... I read on a blog that people with free dining or dining plan use their snack credits and buy the most expensive stuff cause they don't pay , so I guess those are the things look to Disney as the most popular, when you are at BWV for 3 weeks you have to spread out your nibbling . I also miss the Sam Adams tasting that they had by the Am pavilion, does anyone have any info why that left? guess they just wanted to start charging for everything and that was free. :sad2:

Lobster came in last year and this "Linda Bean" lobster is not very good! (Who brands a lobster? :lmao:)

I heard a rumor that the beer tastings left either due to (A) issues with regulators or (B) issues with drunks. Take your pick

We had been going to the tastings for years but must admit went earlier in the day and never saw drunks but I can imagine them having trouble later in the afternoon(I think they ended around 5or 6...you could fit alot of people in there and if they got rowdy it could be a problem... they didnt' give you enough to even get a buzz as far as drinking. I thought it was a great fit...I am not even a beer drinker but having tasted the beers I did try some...and the one I like last year and the year before both are not being served? Guess i am the kiss of death... but guess I will try a new one this year... the seminars were fun, each host had a different story to mix with the traditional one...:sad1:

Oh... you must not have done the "Beers of the World" a few years ago. I think it was 6 full size beers per table and our table had TWO people at it. (And yes, we finished those beers... and then we did the tasting again :lmao:)

I was much younger then, now that would KILL me!

63 days until we leave the kids with Grandma and fly down for Food and Wine! I can't wait!

We're down to about 55 days until our F & W trip to BCV. :goodvibes I looked over the menus and my lamb slider has been replaced by a lamb meatball. :thumbsup2 I also saw that my Red Stag Lemonade w/Jim Beam now has a sibling...Red Stag lemonade TEA. Whoop! Here I come.....!!!!:dance3:

Love that Red Stag! !

Linda, I can't wait! :yay:

But I've been reading so many unfavorable reports about BCV that I have very low expectations at this point. I'm hoping for the best. Whatever happens, you can't beat the proximity to those Red Stags! :thumbsup2

i wouldn't worry about the BCV - it is a wonderful resort! what type of unfavorable posts do you mean?
we love the BWVs but have seen unfavorable reviews there, also (none of which even came close to reflecting any of of 2-3x a year since it's been built experiences :confused3).
the BCV is a bit too "busy" for us as adults, but it is an exceptionally great place for children (btw, we own both BCV, BWV....and SSR).

you'll have a fabulous time!

We've done the Sam Adams tasting in the past, and if anyone got drunk off those few little beer samples, I would be amazed. By the time the girlfriends and I got around to the sampling we were already feeling no pain, so we had a great time. Looking forward to the "I hate drunks at Disney World" threads to get going now that F&W isn't far off. ;)

Thanks, Laurie! I've just read posts in some of the Resorts threads that the units are worn out, in disrepair, and that requests to CMs at the Front Desk aren't acted upon. I realize it's REALLY hard to please some folks and I'm taking it all with a grain of salt. I've always loved the Epcot resorts and look forward to our very first visit to the BCV. I've stayed in the hotel, but never the villas. :goodvibes

I have to agree with Laurie. If I were to take to heart all the unfavorable posts about SSR and BWV I'd never go to WDW!!! :rotfl: You can't beat the Epcot resorts for their location especially for the F&W. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time!!!!! :thumbsup2

I guess those bad reviews are why it books up so fast and has held it's resale value pretty wel. ;) No one wants to stay there. :rotfl2:

Remember that at least SOME bad reviews on here are the "If I trash talk other resorts it makes MY choice look better" On the DIS the rule of thumb is "read with caution" popcorn::

Hey guys - just a heads up, I read this on another thread. DVC Member Services will open at 8 AM on Aug 10 to accommodate those people calling in to book their deminar reservations.

Wouldn't we just call the F&W number at 7am to book? It looks like they still haven't released the info yet. I guess we will have just a few hours to make our plans.

Nevermind! I found the answer to my own question! Still waiting for the info though!

Thanks for all the reassurance, everyone. :goodvibes I am beyond excited to have landed a BCV for F & W Festival and know that it is going to be the vacation of a lifetime. I may not ever board a bus the entire time I'm there!:thumbsup2

Cee, you are going to love staying at the BCV. Just knowing you can walk over to Epcot is so great!!

One of my favorite things to do when I'm at the BW is to ride the boat. I know I can walk, but sometimes when I just want to relax and take everything in I ride the boat over to the Studios, then continue to Epcot!! :rotfl: But... with the "new and efficient" ac systems on those boats, if it's really hot I walk. The boats can be unbelievably hot. The days of walking onto a freezing boat are long gone.
