Hi,
Thanks for the help getting my timer as signature. The three of us are very excited and looking forward to visiting Disney again. We will be staying at the Pop Century this time. I recieved a certificate for the Richard Petty experience of a lifetime, so it should be an interesting trip.
Thanks
Pete

I saw that Richard Petty driving experience and thought it looked really interesting! You'll have to let me know what it's really like!
Your trip isn't too far away either! :bounce: Where do you normally stay?

I've heard 'To infinity and beyond' but your, 'To Disney and Petty driving school' is pretty darn cool too, Pete. :cool1: Welcome to the DIS, enjoy the countdown, have some fun here and learn a little along the way too. Stop by often. :wave2:

Hi Dan and Colleen,
We have stayed at the Fort Wilderness campground and All Star Music. Both were great! The campground was especially nice because we had our own stuff and got to take the ferry most of the times we ventured beyond into the parks.
The Petty experience I will be participating in is one which consists of three 10 lap sessions with instruction before and in between.
We will have our hopper passes, but will also be visiting Universal for a day. Must eat at Emerils restaurant!!
We are from New Bedford, MA, so are especially looking forward to the trip.... it is very cold here and we had a dusting of frozen snow last night.... the roads are awfull.
I want to live at Disney.....

We always stay in Fort Wilderness too! I love hopping on the boat and heading into MK early in the morning! I have already requested loop 100, 200 or 300 for Dec. I like being close to the marina area. Gotta tell you, there is nothing like sharing your breakfast with the peacocks!! :teeth: Ever see the white peacock when you stayed there?? Freaky!! :earseek:

Hi Pete,
Hope you have a great time on your trip. I'm a huge NASCAR fan and from what I have heard throygh my friends, you will have a blast at the Petty Driving Experience.

I also stay at Fort Wilderness when in Disney with the whole family. I opt for the cabins because they fit us all in there and they have full size ovens and refridgerators. I love hopping on that ferry to go to MK or even Wilderness Lodge. I just wish they would open River Country back up as a resort pool area.

Ain't nothing like getting the all you can eat buffet at Trail's End Restaurant (peel and eat shrimp, BBQ Chicken, BBQ Ribs, fish, pasta, pizza, salad bar and desserts) for 16 bucks then relaxing on the front porch of Crocketts Tavern in a rocking chair sipping an after dinner beverage! AHHH, that's the life!

Colleen,
Adam,

I remember a white peacock! That was cool. The wierd thing for me was seeing armadillos walking through the site every day. We are used to squerrils! I can't remember the site number the last time we stayed, but I remember that it was across the street from the outdoor theater. We were the first site in the circle. It was a nice short walk to the bus stop! Renting golf carts was great, we ended up taking some late night rides up the trail to the Wilderness lodge, spotting many deer and other wildlife on the way.
When we were last at daytona ( and made disney "home base" ) was when Dale Sr. crashed. Everyone thought it wasn't bad. We have all seen much worse. We didn't learn of his fate until we returned to our hotel - All Star Music - , where our son was watching the news. From that moment on, we noticed many people at disney wearing D.E. clothing and the excitement level of the park was much less. My daughter and I had just finished listening to Sr. & Jr. talking on the radios, and Sr. chatting with his chosen fan, he had asked her if she had any last minute strategies or anything else to say. He then spoke with theresa and asked her to bring his DEI hat to the winners circle. She and he chatted for a moment and then the red flag was over......
It has taken me awhile to be able to go back there.
But here we go, off to never never land, of magic and dreams, where time flys so quickly. The petty experience is something I have always wanted to do. Most of my life, I had a strong passion for making stock car racing a career ... every race I see, I feel each turn and anticipate each movement of the car that I am watching. My dad nipped that dream in the bud quickly, and at a young enough age so that by the time opportunity came a knocking, there were too many doors to answer. SO here I am, as close as I will get. But still great to be able.
And Disney!!!! I want to live there, that is the hardest part of going...... I get emotional when time to leave..... I need my fix.
