Colleen,
Adam,
I remember a white peacock! That was cool. The wierd thing for me was seeing armadillos walking through the site every day. We are used to squerrils! I can't remember the site number the last time we stayed, but I remember that it was across the street from the outdoor theater. We were the first site in the circle. It was a nice short walk to the bus stop! Renting golf carts was great, we ended up taking some late night rides up the trail to the Wilderness lodge, spotting many deer and other wildlife on the way.
When we were last at daytona ( and made disney "home base" ) was when Dale Sr. crashed. Everyone thought it wasn't bad. We have all seen much worse. We didn't learn of his fate until we returned to our hotel - All Star Music - , where our son was watching the news. From that moment on, we noticed many people at disney wearing D.E. clothing and the excitement level of the park was much less. My daughter and I had just finished listening to Sr. & Jr. talking on the radios, and Sr. chatting with his chosen fan, he had asked her if she had any last minute strategies or anything else to say. He then spoke with theresa and asked her to bring his DEI hat to the winners circle. She and he chatted for a moment and then the red flag was over......
It has taken me awhile to be able to go back there.
But here we go, off to never never land, of magic and dreams, where time flys so quickly. The petty experience is something I have always wanted to do. Most of my life, I had a strong passion for making stock car racing a career ... every race I see, I feel each turn and anticipate each movement of the car that I am watching. My dad nipped that dream in the bud quickly, and at a young enough age so that by the time opportunity came a knocking, there were too many doors to answer. SO here I am, as close as I will get. But still great to be able.
And Disney!!!! I want to live there, that is the hardest part of going...... I get emotional when time to leave..... I need my fix.
