How do you countdown your WDW vacation with your kids? Calenders? Daily goodies? etc?

Would love to hear from all of your original and creative individuals out there! :flower:

we printed a calendar page off the computer and the kids put a disney sticker on each day until we get to the big yellow square (the day we leave). Nothing super exciting, but I look forward to reading more creative ideas.

Each of our kids have paper chains in their rooms that they take a link off every night before bed to count down the numbers of sleeps before we hit the road. We are down to 22, and have been doing this since since we had 45 sleeps left. Our kids are 4 and nearly 5.

When I was little we had these Disney books. In the back of the books were little creative quick things that as kids you would love.

I think one of them was a count down to Xmas- and when we went with DBF's neices we made it but with Mickey instead of Santa.

Take construction paper and make a big Mickey head. Then on a separate piece of paper ( a long thin one - about an inch in height) write your countdown numbers. It really only works if you have less than 30 or so. Slice 2 lines, about an inch in height and an ince apart, where Mickeys mouth would be, and slide the counter strip through. If its done right, you should only see the current count down #, with the other numbers tucked behind the mickey head.

Hope that wasn't confusing! I was told by my DBF's sister that the girls raced home to change the #s. It got them even more excited! And I was just excited making them! Adds to the magic

Great ideas. We are going in Spetmeber & to my 3 year old, 5 months is a lot to get her little mind around. We keep telling her in the Fall when we apple pick since she asks "Is Diney today, mommy?" everyday. I think I will probably start a 1 month count down.

The day I told my kids that we were going to DW as a family activity we cut strips of different color construction paper and made a chain. My Dd's cut and glued the links the Dh got into it as well because we had 87 links to make. Each day we take turns taking off a link. My kids jump out of bed every morning and run to the chain that is stapled to the wall in the hallway to take one off. We are down to 54. Another idea we are doing with our kids is Disney Dollar punch cards for being good and for being bad. Let me tell you my kids volunteer to do anything and everything. Your house will never be cleaner and their beds made every day!

The really really excited mom!

1 month 3 weeks to first WDW trip!

  Well, tommorrow we are at the 30 DAY MARK !!!

And, today my five year olds are going to cut out 30 strips of construction paper, and then color and add stickers to them.
Then, I will make a calendar with Disney clipart characters, so they can actually see how many days are left.
And, every night one of them will mark off the calendar, and the other will
pull off a chain. !!!

:cool1: 31 days till we visit the big Cheese himself !! :cool1:

We are going for Star Wars Weekends at MGM for ds (9) so we are watching a Star Wars movie each week. This also works out well with the release of the new movie.
