Countdown Cruisers - Ringing in the New Year on the Disney Wonder - 12/31/2013

Updated 1st post to add TexasGirl.

We're up to 16 cruisers and 8 FE participant rooms!

We're growing slowly but surely. :cheer2:

Fish Extender - let's see if I can make this clear as mud :goodvibes

  • You deliver gifts only once (unless you just want to do more, but all you are "contracted" to do is one time)
  • Each person delivers when they want so yes, they are spaced out fairly often. The last day may not have much (in my experience) as people try to get stuff out before then so that they can pack up.
  • Some people do a gift or gift set per room. Others do per person. This would be entirely up to each person. So if 10 rooms sign up, you may only bring 10 gifts. Or you may one gift for the adults to share and one for each child, or one per person, or any other idea you want. All you should do is at least one per room.
  • Your kids may or may not get 10 gifts each. Some people give per cabin so it would just depend on the gifter.

Hi all. While this will be our 4th Disney cruise, we have never done a fish extender, because we never knew you could do a cabin/family gift and it started to look like a very expensive undertaking before (on our Disney Fantasy cruise last january, there were about 20 families and around 80 individual gifts!) So my question is what are some typical gifts? What is an average price range?
Oh yeah, how are gifts delivered?

My BIL was able to get off work and has been officially added to the cruise! My sister added him to her cabin that was originally booked for her and my other sister. My other sister now plans to sleep in our second cabin that my 2 boys will sleep in. It seems that their agent and people on the Disboards say we don't have to officially move my sister into our second cabin since Disney doesn't care where people actually sleep. We can just assign keys accordingly once we are on the cruise. Still on the fence about FE exchange. Out of our 3 cabins, I am thinking that we will probably add only 1 cabin (for my 3 kids) to the exchange. When do we need to give a definite answer?

Hi everyone! :wave2: We booked this cruise back in February but were not sure if we were going to keep it or not but have made the decision to stick with our plan :thumbsup2 Look forward to getting to know everyone. :goodvibes

It's just DH & I. This will be our 8th Disney cruise - I've managed to squeeze in a few while DCL has been in Galveston. :cloud9: Thankfully DH is going along with it. (Which is why I thought he might make me ditch this particular one :rotfl2:)

I'm really looking forward to celebrating NY on a cruise ship

Me again... Has anyone had success booking parking for our cruise? :confused3 None of the parking calendars I am trying show the Wonder leaving on 12/31/13. :surfweb:

No problem. My uncle sails from Galveston a few times a year and always parks there. I'm doing a B2B and reserved my parking spot tonight!

We are booked there for our Sept cruise but we've not used them before. I'm envious of your B2B - that's going to be so much fun to wave goodbye to everyone else leaving the ship and get to stay.

It is totally up to you. Nothing is too much or too little. There's some great threads in the main Disboards about FE. Pretty overwhelmed with work and school right now, but if you remind me in a couple weeks, I'll gather them and post the links.

To deliver, you hang a "fish extender" outside your door and everyone just walks around and puts them in the little hanger.

Welcome!!!!:goodvibes I added you to the first post!

Thanks for the parking tip! I'm also doing the same back to back! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

We used Lighthouse Parking on our last Galveston cruise and it worked it really well. We plan to use again.

Anyone figured out hotel night prior?

:)

I haven't, but if anyone else has, I'd love to know. I have a lot of Hilton hotel points. I should go see if there is one in the area. Off I go....

We have stayed at the Hilton before, it's really nice, and not far to drive at all, plus they offer a shuttle I believe (although we didn't use it). We've also stayed at Harbor House. Not as nice as the Hilton, but more places to eat etc within walking distance. Harbor House also offers cruise parking for $10 a night and they are about 3 blocks from the cruise terminal. :goodvibes

Thanks. I'm overwhelmed with life right now, but in another week or two life should get really easy..plan to do some serious cruise planning, FE making, exciting stuff through the summer.

We are going to do the same thing. Stay at the Hilton on HHonors points. Haven't booked it yet. Slightly short. It looks great! Free is even greater!

We are out of school here in our district! They got out at noon yesterday! We are going to the poor man's Disney World....6 Flags...this afternoon to celebrate.

Our kids got out at noon yesterday as well. I finished up today at noon. We leave Wednesday for WDW so now we are in last minute packing mode.

Hi Everybody. This will be our first cruise of any kind. I am a former Disney world cast member, so I am kind of biased towards all things Disney. I am bringing my sister and nephew (13) and would love to join in the fish extender group. Please let me know what I need to do. Thanks

Welcome to the group. I'm getting ready to go to WDW in a couple days but I'll add you to the first page list for cruising and the fish extender group when I return. So glad to have you and your family.

My daughter will be 13 on this cruise as well!

We just got back from WDW. We went on for 6 days (5 nights) for my daughter's high school graduation. Now that we're back, we can start to think about our back to back Galveston cruises! We're so psyched to be going on the 12/27 and 12/31 cruises. I couldn't resist the BTB since they cut our original Galveston cruise back from 7 nights to 4 nights. We'll be doing the FE on both cruises. These will be #12 and #13 for us!
