I am in the process of putting together my very first countdown calendar and I need inspiration :)
If you have a picture of your calendar would you mind posting it? This could be a really fun thread!

Thanks!!!

Here is ours! It's simple...but the kids had fun making it!! I need to take an updated picture. We bought a Disney sticker book and have put the stickers on over the numbers to count down!! They've had fun doing this everyday! We're now at day 29!!! Whoo hooo!!!

I don't have a picture, but we always make a countdown chain out of construction paper. Then eachday we remove one link and do a celebration song and dance. The kids (and maybe the adults too) love it.

I am attempting making mickey head cut outs to do a calendar but I really like the idea from the first picture..very cute!

We made a countdown chart using the mickey head paint chips from Home Depot, clear address labels with the numbers printed on them in Disney font. Each day we put up one mickey head. Not too fancy, but it worked:

We do this , too!

Here are some pictures of one I did. I cut the pieces on my Cricut. We covered the numbers each day with a Mickey head. It looked cooler once there were more days covered.

Here are two I've done in the past.

This first one was made by cutting envelopes in half & turning them side ways. So you get two pockets from one envelope. I made little cut-out characters and glued them on popscicle sticks so that they could move from pocket to pocket as the days counted down.

This second one is the classic mickey head paint chips one. I included a daily disney trivia/secret fact on the back of each head so that we got a new disney fact each day. They were about disney movies, parks, characters, etc.

I really like the idea of making a 100 day countdown, kinda extends the excitement & anticipation!

This is the first year we're doing a countdown. It really does help - this AM my girls woke me up at 6AM to put the next sticker on the calendar! :crazy2:

I used my scrapbooking paper from the 4 parks pack we bought last trip (or was it the trip before:confused3) I made a grid on it and numbered each space. Each day we practice counting to the new number and put the sticker on. My almost 4 yr old can now count to 40 with minimal help :teacher: so there're other bonuses besides just helping the excitement levels!

Not the fanciest but it has worked for us our last few trips. It was originally a 20 day countdown but my girls loved the idea so much that I doubled it last year. It is just 2 pieces of posterboard with 20 of the Home Depot Mickey head paint chips taped over each day. My girls each take turns taking a Mickey head off each night revealing the number for how many days are left.

Sorry for the huge pictures...not sure how to make them smaller.

Thanks for posting everyone! They all look great and have given me some great ideas! When I finish mine, I will post a picture ;) :thumbsup2

I love this post!! I'll be keeping an eye on it for any more ideas for when I can make our countdown calendar! First trip to DW with our DS, can't wait! The chain will definitely be more for me than him this time :rotfl2:
