Countdown board & disney fund!

I got bored tonight & was trying to think of a way to put my 2 $5 Walmart GCs to use. Our Walmart was recently remodeled so they mailed everyone in the city a $5 GC & DBF didn't want his! I was reading about all the ways people countdown for their trip & decided to make a cute & simple board!

I also wanted something cute to look at that would make me want to save my money!

I love the budget tracker.... once I saw that I totally wanted to make a budget tracker myself... but I'm not sure what to save for

I was thinking of possibly doing a house with Balloons ala Up! And add a new baloon each time I saved x amount of money towards the house. Eventually it would look something like this :

As for a budget tracker I do something different. I want to teach DS (and DD as she gets older) about money and budgeting so what I did was I came up with a budget that includes the following categories: food, transportation, lodging, attraction tickets and souvenirs. I set the budget and then created a poster with one Mickey head for every $100 we need to save. In the bottom corner of the poster I made a 'legend' that listed each category in a different colour and then I wrote a number beside it. For example I wrote Food in black and I put a 10 beside it. That means I need 10x$100 or $1000 for food. We have a jar that we are using to save and every time we save $100 DS gets to colour in a Mickey head in one of the colours from the legend. This was a very simple idea that didn't take me much time to come up with and it will help DS see how much it really costs to travel!
