Could You Be a "Professional" Cheerleader?

Oh here we go, I guess women can do whatever they want as long as other women think it's okay. Just what is wrong with cheerleading, professional or otherwise? :confused3 When does it become so horrid? Is it always horrid or does it become that way after high school? College?

These women are CHOOSING to do this, it isn't like some person is holding a gun to a ladies head and demanding she become a professional cheerleader.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Nah. But I'd make one heck of a Field Goal Kicker. :thumbsup2

As an FYI, this young woman is smart, articulate, and works full time in addition to doing the cheer thing.

She just loves doing it, and uses her vacation time from her day job for cheer camp and such.

And BTW--she's not anorexic, while I was speaking to her yesterday she was eating a Frosty LOL!

Especially since the majority of them have full time professions (thus the "" part of "professional" ). :thumbsup2 A girl I went to college with was a dance team member for the Cavaliers (the NBA team) for a few years after college. Her "day" job? She was a teacher. :teacher:

lulugirl has my routine down pat! :rotfl2:

And, I am not "equipped" for the job, in spite of my nickname here... :rolleyes1

So, no, I wouldn't make the cut. :teeth: But I don't care what someone else does, as long as it isn't illegal. :yay: :cheer2: :woohoo:

I think it is so lame to have cheerleaders at an NFL game

I am so glad that the Pittsburgh Steelers are so good, that they dont even need any lame cheerleaders!

:cool1:  :cheer2: :woohoo: We don't need no stinkin' cheerleaders!!! ;)

I know this probably wasnt directed at me, but just to clarify, my 'what was I thinking' comment referred to the fact that I am woefully unqualified to be a cheerleader, professional or otherwise. I agree with the above comments and meant nothing derogatory at all towards cheerleaders. It actually looks like a lot of fun and I only WISH had the looks or talent to do it.

Those requirements wouldn't phase me. My hair and make-up is always done before I go out. :

Me too.

But having to turn down a bar-room-brawl?!?!? Cheerleading certainly isnt for me. ;)

Exactly.

The NBA cheerleader we know is the instructor at the local dance studio. Guess maybe the kids shouldn't be learning dance from such a lowlife. :sad2:

IMO the policy makes sense given the fact they always are "on" as a rep of the team. If fact I doubt it's really that much of an issue for these folks. I suspect the one we know would likely do all that stuff anyway.

But she can't even leave her house to get milk at 7-11 without her hair being done and makeup on. She's not allowed to chew gum in public. Her nails always have to be perfectly manicured. All sorts of things like that.

Yes, how DARE she go out with the inferior face god gave her without enhancing "improving" it. I'm sure it is inadequate the way it is without make up? LOL!! Do they make the football players do anything that would equate? Are they allowed to chew gum in public? Because after all the football and basketball players represent the teams and schools too!! :p

I'd NEVER have made it. I would have been insulted that I needed to have make up on to be presentable. Yes, I can see that they want them to be clean and groomed. This stuff reminds me tooo much of the backwards secret sorority that practically RAN my high school in the south...didn't Susan Sugarbaker once compare Mary Kay to the Moonies?? LOL!! I don't know this kind of thing always makes me laugh. Go for it though if it feels ok. It just doesn't to me. I was always more the intellectual arty type when I was young enough to even think of being a cheerleader.!! LOL It's far toooo late now. Now I'm off to yoga class! :cool1:

My sister who was the cheerleader is also a teacher :teacher: . ANother reason she quit was she didn't want her students seeing her in the Eagles sexy calendar. She went for fun w/ a friend who was trying out and didn't want to go alone. She was shocked she made it - sadly her friend didn't. She thought it was fun to try while young. :cheer2:

I would have liked to have done it in like my early twenties or so, had I the skills and body (I just had the spirit and enthusiasm). Although my weekend grooming practices leave much to be desired (usually just sunblock and a hairclip) I'm sure I would have been motivated to put forth the effort...

Nope, I would not make it as a cheerleader, I NEVER wear makeup! And to be honest I really really hope that its not something my daughter would ever want to do either...

BTW--I told her about this thread and she got quite the chuckle out of some of the reactions. She says that she generally would rather wear less makeup than they more or less dictate (she likes a "natural look"--her words) but you do what you gotta do, and because she really loves the excitement of cheering on *her* team, she's willing to do what it takes--within reason.

She won't starve herself (she says she's within a few pounds of overweight as far as they are concerned as she was munching on a cookie LOL!), but she will keep those barroom brawls to a minimum for the next few years. :rotfl:

No way I would let anyone tell me what do wear/how to look on my day off!
