Hi DIS Friends!
I have a little "message of the day" for you today (or whenever you are reading this).
Ryan and I had quite a scare this weekend. A very big scare, and I thought I would share it with you, in hopes that you will be more careful in everything you do, and spread the message.
Ryan was out of town this weekend, fishing. Since I have been so tired, I told myself that I was going to be lazy, for once in my life, and stay in my PJs all day on Saturday.... The LSU game was at 2:30, so I was just going to bum around in the morning, watch the game, and take it easy. Of course, that's SO hard for me to do, so when I woke up on Saturday, I thought, "Well, I'm not feeling SO tired, let me go ahead and run a few errands before the game."
So, I did, then came home, exhausted, of course, watched the game, then went to sleep literally in the 7:00 hour. Yes, it was great.
I slept late on Sunday and decided that was going to be my lazy day. I knew it was okay if I missed church one day, so I slept in. And it felt great. I was feeling really really tired, and that's exactly what I needed.
When Ryan got home, I was supposed to go with him, in my trailblazer to my aunt and uncles house to pick up some furniture.
He came back around lunch on Sunday, visited with me for two seconds before he had to leave. I decided that since I hadn't gotten dressed for the day, I would stay home.
That turned out to be the best decision of my life... That possibly saved my life and the baby's.
Here's what happened on his way to get the furniture:
This was AFTER they had flipped it on it's right side.
Five lane, 60-mph interstate...
A car was trying to get across five lanes of traffic, apparently with little caution. It clipped a mustang who spun and was forced, perpendicular to traffic across four lanes. Bounced off of one wall on the side of the interstate, came flying back across the five lanes of traffic and slammed into my husband.
It forced him, in my car, to flip, twist, and turn, and slide, on it's roof 100 yards down the interstate.
When he realized he was alive, he thought, "Now I have to get out of the car without getting hit by passing traffic."
He had no idea if the car had jumped the median to the opposing lane of traffic.
And do you know what???? The car who clipped the mustang DIDN'T STOP.... HIT AND RUN.
But do you know what else???? He is fine.
With minor scrapes and blood, a very black eye, very bruised ribs, and a sore neck, he's FINE!
Praise God! He's the one who watched over him.
When he called me, I was there in 12 minutes---- Driving on the shoulder to get past the traffic which had developed for miles already.
I nearly passed out but had to calm myself down for the baby. I just prayed and prayed my prayers of thanksgiving.... For his safety, for the fact that he was in MY car b/c it is (or was) bigger than his camry, for the fact that I wasn't in the car, Maddie wasn't in the car, and everything else that made a HORRIBLE day into a WONDERFUL day, because, HE IS FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who could ask for more????????
Secondary to that is the other bad part in that my car was paid off, and now we'll have a car note and day care note.... But everytime we've needed money in the past, we've been blessed with it. I have faith that everything will work out.
It always has.
So, please, please, please, if you need to show these pictures to anyone, DO. If it helps people be careful, then GREAT! I think we all get in too much of a rush that we don't pay attention.... on the road, in life, and everyday with our loved ones..... Give an extra kiss to your "special ones" tonight and thank God that you have them in your life.... It's a precious gift.
PS- 13 weeks preggers today =)
