I don't post all that much in here even though I'm an avid fan, but I do know this community is great when it comes to good thoughts, and I could sure use some about now.

My husband and I were in a car accident last night - t-boned in an intersection by a driver who ran the red. Our Mini Cooper (RIP, Murray) was totaled but it saved my life. The main EMT who was with me in the ambulance said repeatedly she couldn't believe I was as in as good condition as I was (am) for what the car looked like. I haven't seen the car yet because they lifted me out on a back board (saw lots of 'up', though; faces, stars, streetlights, roofs...), but we may be able to go recover what we can from the wrecker tomorrow.

As it is, we're both in a lot of pain (and I'm pretty much terrified to get in a car...), but I know it could have been so, so much worse.

Anyway, if you have a minute to send some pixie dust this way, I'd sure appreciate it. And spare a thought for our little car who saved me from the minivan. (And please excuse any spelling mistakes; I've been waiting for the tears to start and apparently typing this turned that key.) Thanks.

Caroline-

I was T-Boned on my way to work two years ago. My Mini-Van was totaled as well and I was terrified to drive.

The side airbags saved my life as well. The rescue personnel kept repeated how "cool" those airbags were. OY!

I was thankful then that the kids were not in the car, I was even more thankful that I was ok and (although in all kinds of pain) came away with just a sprained shoulder and a slightly fracture wrist.

I am sending pixie dust your way, I know where you are but, similar to what they say about horses, you just have to get back on.....

I know it is no solace but it does work....

I have prayed for you both.

If you get a chance, watch one of those Disney Vacation Planning videos and accept a big hug from all of us. Those videos always make me feel better. :thumbsup2

Oh, what a horrible accident!
I am so glad that you are still with us, really. And are able to connect up with us. Of, course, lots of prayers and pixie dust to you and your husband for speed healing. But, please be patient. It is going to take a while. Your bodies have been pretty beat up, I'll bet.

Can't believe your little Mini was up to saving you. Good Murray! RIP. I hope you find another car to serve you as well and you will be able to drive and have a good relationship with it.

Scary how close I was to where you are. Last night we were approaching an intersection. Our light was fully green as we approached. Just before we entered the intersection, a car sped through on his red light. I wonder what he was thinking. Did he hear the horns blaring at him from both sides?

I am so sorry for you having to go through that! I too was hit - by a tractor trailer - although it was 15 years ago the thought still sends shivers. The one thing I can tell you is that you need to get right back in the car and drive around the block. It took me 2 years to get back on the highway (thats where i was hit) and I used to break out in a sweat every time I did. It takes desensitization and I had to work at it but it doesn't bother me at all now. As for the soreness, that too will get better after a little bit. Follow up with ur PCP also. The trauma center where we were taken did a great job but the soft tissue damage needs physical therapy to heal faster. I am so glad you are home and basically ok. Also, be prepared as it may be a little shocking when you do see your car. When I saw my squished Chevy Blazer it upset me all over again.

I will be thinking about you and sending healing peaceful thoughts your way. I know how you are feeling. :grouphug:

I'm sending good thoughts and prayers your way. Get lots of rest and take time to recover.

Tons of love and all the prayers I can send headed your way!!! so glad to hear that you and you DH are ok!:grouphug:

Caroline,

Lots of pixie dust your way. Sometimes just knowing that somebody is thinking good thoughts for you helps with healing. I hope you recover quickly. I've heard alot of good things about the Mini.

Take care!

thoughts and prayers coming your way. I am so glad that you and your husband are ok! How scary though.

Oh Gosh Caroline....

We're thinking of you.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

Kevin

Hope you feel better soon, Caroline.

I'm still afraid to turn left onto main streets from side streets because of my accident a year ago. Hang in there.

Sending you and your husband my good thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. :goodvibes

And don't worry about the tears - they are a important to your healing. But if after a few days you are still tearing up then talk to your doctor about post-traumatic stress. You haven't been to war but you have had a traumatic experience and might need a little help to resolve your feelings about the situation.

Caroline,
Glad you and your husband came out rather unscathed from the accident. PD to fast healing of your injuries.

I have seen more and more people run red lights and stop signs this past year. I don't know if it is inattention to the road or just that they are in such a hurry and aren't paying attention to what they are doing and the danger they are putting them self and others in. Any more I wait a few seconds after a light changes before proceeding into an intersection, because of this.

Caroline -

How scary for you and your husband. I am glad to hear that you are okay and thankful that Murray was able to protect you.

Pixie dust and prayers coming your way - although I think you have your own pixie dust as you and your husband came away from a horrific accident okay.

RIP Murray....the little mini that could!

Caroline, rest and get better....prayers to you and your DH....an Murray...
