Could Someone tell me what a "Room Ready" policy is?

Room Ready opposed to what?

Rooms that are not ready to be occupied.

One situation is you check in at 10am, all empty rooms are Room Ready. You check in at 2pm and some rooms have already been cleaned, Room ready.

Others you might have to wait to afternoon to be ready to occupy.

Some resorts are reportedly using a "Room Ready" policy which means if there is room available for occupancy when a guest checks in, they will get the room.

Some resorts use "room assignment" policy, which mean a CM assigns rooms based on date of reservation and any requests made at that time. If a guest arrives and his "assigned" rooms is not yet available, he must wait until it is prepared for use even if there are other rooms available at that time.

and some use a combination of both. You might be assigned a certain room but if they have a room ready when you checkin and you wish to take that one over the assigned room, you will be given it.

So if you check in and they say your room is not ready, you can ask if anything else is.

Sammie, does that mean that they would give you an unassigned room (the resort is not full) or would they assign you someone elses room and switch the assignments???

Mostly, give you an unassigned room? However if a guest is at the desk pitching a hissy fit, as some are want to do it about a particular location and they have a guest assigned to a room they can move without upsetting that guest; then they could move them into a room previously assigned.

I know for those that read the forums, most can't imagine that there are many guests who do not make requests. But it is actually true or they make very simply ones like upper floor.

Therefore moving that guest into another room is easy to do, or they might upgrade them if they were staying at resort not on points.
