I would love to hear what people liked/disliked it about it? How long did you go for, how long do you recommend going for? Is it about 2 hours from WDW? We are planning to try a trip in Aug. and we might want to break our trip up and try Vero? Any info. would be apppreciated.

Thanks Denise

we love vero, and love it more each visit. we are finding ourselves adding more days there and doing fewer WDW days. we have 3 daughters DD7,DD5,DD2, and they love Vero.

to us, its the classic "do nothing but relax" beach vacation. we sit at the beach, rent a cabanna for "home base", take long walks, play in the water, rent boogie boards, build sand castles. we often get "lunch buckets" and have lunch on the beach around the cabanna.

then, we have pool days, where we camp out alongside the pool for the day. the girls love the waterslide, put-put golf, shuffleboard.

its really a family resort, so each we our kids seem to make some wonderful friends their age and play with them during the week.

we like the resturaunts at the resort a lot, but we have done day trips to eat elsewhere. a bunch of DISers can give you reviews of those places.

you can rent bikes and go for short or long rides. there is a lake disney owns across the street with a small lake. there are grills and tennis coursts over there.

EpiscoDisFan said it all pretty well. We like how compact the resort is because we can move between the beach, pool, and room, and back throughout the day.

Here is some other info:

The VB resort provides daily activities for kids & adults with the best CMs of all the resorts.

They have a nice pool & Lighthouse spiral waterslide, a REALLY cool water play area for the real young kids, a hot Jacuzzi, miniature golf, exercise room, ping pong, bike rentals, The Green Cabin Room (bar/restaurant) has 2nd floor covered deck that has a fantastic view of the ocean and is a nice place to relax with your favorite beverage. It also has live entertainment in the evenings. At night they have a campfire / s’more roast (bring the Cutter Advanced to fend off the No-see-ums). You can rent a small catamaran or jet-ski for ocean fun. Across the street they have a lake, picnic tables, nature trail, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Disney built a private tunnel under the road to access this area. And of course they have the ocean and great waves for boogy boarding. Everything from the ocean to the pool to your room is no more than 2 minutes away walking. So it is real easy to break up your day

5 minutes away is Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge and a wildlife education center. Just a few minutes further up the road is Sebastian Inlet State Park were the Indian River meets the ocean. There are many good fishing spots around the inlet, and there are river excursions where you can see dolphins, manatee, and tons of other types of wildlife. About an hour north is Port Canaveral, (where the Magic and Wonder dock), the Kennedy Space Center visitor complex, and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge with walking and driving tours. 20 minutes south is McKee Botanical Garden (18 acres) with some REALLY cool vegetation and trees. 30 minutes south in Fort Piece is the Manatee Observation and Education Center.

Hello-

I have a few questions about Vero also. How much do the cabanas cost? What are 'lunch buckets'?

Thanks in advance.

We love Vero too (we own 170 points there). Most people go after the parks to rest, we go before going to WDW to suntan a bit and relax.

We love the pool and the slide, you can walk to the pool in swimming costume. The sea though is treaky (some strong waves prevent you to stay on the side, you have to "cross" that wave barrier to reach a calmer place and by then you're quite deep in the water, so it is dangerous for young kids).

We normally stay 5-6 days, more would be boring to us. We rent a car and visit the area and the Indian River Mall. Be careful with no see ums, last year my DH had no less than 80 bites on his leg. Use plenty of repellent!!!

I'm going for my second visit this May. I loved my first visit so much that I wanted to bring my family to enjoy it as well. It's really relaxing, the CM's are WONDERFUL. Whether you have kids or not, you'll have a great time there. I went with a friend my own age, no kids and we had a really mellow week.
This year I'm doing a split, 3 days at VB and 3 days SSR.

My daughter read your post. I was telling her about it. She read it and said "mom costume means suit". She is taking her 3rd year of French. :) What are sea ums though??

No-see-ums (slang, people spell differently too). Sand fleas that fly (sort of). Im sure you can find a definition on wikipedia.com.

We have been to VB many times. No-see-ums are primarily a dusk and dawn thing. Cutter advanced seems to be most acclaimed to repell them. :)

We love VB. We went last May with my MIL and 6 mo son. We had a great time. My husband and I loved the Campfire songs and smores, in fact I couldn't get "Hi, My name is Joe..............." or "there was a Mouse who had a dog and Pluto was his name-o"....out of my head all week lol

DH and I are going back in April, just the two of us, looking forward to it!:cheer2:

It usually takes me 2 or 3 days to get into vacation mode . I feel like I'm just getting into my vacation at Disney when its time to leave. This year we're going to Vero for 4 days first then to BWV. I'm sure I'll be in vacation mode by then.

Bumping, because I too would like to know more about the cabanas and their cost. How many are there for rent?
Also, what are 'lunch buckets'?

Thanks

Bumping. Also, when is best time of year to go, from a weather standpoint?

I can answer the lunch bucket question- I think the poster was refering to the kid lunches served at the pool bar. They come in a bucket!
