I'm looking for cheap airfare and we flew AA last year (our first flight) and since AA is so expensive ($232 + tax & fees) this year, I found ATA for only ($201 w/taxes and fees). I don't know much about them and could really use some help on their reputation and policies. Any info would help. Thanks! :sunny:

AirTrain and ATA (American Trans Air) are 2 different airlines. Which are you talking about?

WE LOVE AIRTRAN!!! we fly them everytime we go to disney....we just roundtrip for each of us for 163..not too bad...anyways...we booked last year for one of our trips and my hubby put in the wrong dates for our flight..luckily we caught it..we called them and when it was all said and done we only paid 80 bucks difference instead of the like 700 it was supposed to cost..talk about customer service....we love them...dont give it a second thought..fly with them you wont be sorry..

Watch Airtran closely they are notorious for cancelations and not being on time.

Wow, we have flown Air Tran at least 8 times and only had one flight leave late because of a cleaning issue with the plane. We always check times but they have only varied by a few minutes.

I have flown Air Tran many, many times and their on time record has been pretty good with me.

I'm using them for the first time in February - so I'm hoping everything goes smoothly. I've used Spirit a couple of times in the past - but the airfare from Detroit right now is outragious - over $330 r/t. We got Air Tran for $223. I'll use that $100 somewhere more enjoyable

We flew Airtran this past September, and really enjoyed our flight! The only issue we had and it didn't bother me one bit, was the radio on my arm rest didn't work for our flight home, they offered me a different seat, but it really didn't matter. Never lost our luggage, was on time both ways! I will definately be flying with them in the future!

We flew Airtran to MCO on January 7th and back to DFW on January 17th. No problems with either flight. The flight to MCO actually arrived at the gate 15 minutes ahead of schedule, which was fantastic. No lost luggage...very friendly customer service. We'll use them again.

Never flown Airtran. Do the have assigned seating when you purchase your tickets? We will be 2 adults and 4 children ( 2-11 yrs.)

We flew Air Tran last year from PHL to MCO. We were very happy with the experience and both flights arrived early.

As for the seat assignments, it depends on how much you want to pay. The cheapest fares do not allow you to select your seats until 24 hours before your departure. If you pay the regular fare, which is usually substantially higher, you can select your seats immediately.

We selected the cheaper fare and booked our 4 seats 24 hours in advance. We were able to get good seats doing that.

If you book your Air Tran flights through a travel agent, they can assign you seats at time of booking for any fare that you pay.
If you book on-line, you cannot pre-assign your seats until 24 hours prior to departure.(If you're paying the cheapest fare)
