Could someone please cheer me up?

Hi- I am not having a good week. My mom has been going through chemo for five months and it has been so rough. She lives 500 miles away and I only see her once a month. She's in the hospital right now and the oncologist told her this morning that he's cancelling her last chemo treatment. Said her body can't handle it. I am relieved that it's over for her, but worried that it's not gone.
And the little things, my dh is mad that we've eaten out too much this month (yes, I know it's my fault), I'm sad that the kids are going back to school next week, I knocked over the trash can and had to pick up the trash out of the street, I dumped a 32 ounce coke in my car and it's raining.
Thanks for reading this far. I just want to run away.

I'm sorry! :grouphug: It seems like when one thing goes wrong it is only a matter of minutes before a hundred other things go wrong, too! Hang in there!

I'm sorry things are not going well for you. I hope things get better soon.

How crappy things have been for you lately! :grouphug: It will get better. And it always starts getting better with Ben and Jerry's, Lifetime movies, and a comfy couch/bed. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes I hope things get better for you (and your mom)! :flower3:

Thanks all! I am trying not to have a pity party, but I've been so stressed about Mom (I went home this weekend and she was sooo weak). Everything else just seems to be a big deal too. Thanks for the good wishes. But I was thinking chocolate chip cookies and lifetime movies.

goofyshell,

Most of the stuff you mentioned is just that - small stuff. The main thing is your mom. When my dad had cancer and was in and out of the hospital, every little thing that went wrong was multiplied by 10 or 100 so I can see where you are coming from.

As for eating out - have your DH help you out here. Whenever I feel stressed or down, I don't like to cook. If DH wants a home cooked meal, he can cook it. Or we have sandwiches. Or we have something that's really easy to heat up or fixed. (That is, if we don't go out!)

As for yourself - chocolate chip cookies sounds good. So does a massage or facial. I always tend to feel a little better after one of those. A funny movie also helps. Lifetime movies tend to make me more depressed - unless it's funny or has a happy ending. :teeth:

Hope you feel better soon!

Sounds like you've got a lot going on right now and things are rough. I'm sorry for all you're going through.

It's okay to want to run away. It's natural - just don't sweat the small stuff. Your mom is your major concern. I know how bad chemo can effect the body and with each session it drives your body further and further down. The lower you get the harder it is to recover between each session. The doctor is doing what s/he thinks is best. Instead of cancelling it he could have delayed it. And just because he cancelled it now doesn't necessary mean that the chemo hasn't done it's job.

My best friend went through breast cancer 4 years ago. She only made it through 3 chemo sessions when the protocol called for 6. She was hospitalized and the doctor made the same decision to end chemo because the treatment was killing her. She went on to have 6 weeks radiation and has been clear of everything for the past 4 years. I have been through 4 sessions of chemo and will probably do 2 or 3 more after surgery and before radiation. Each patient is different, each cancer is different, and everyone reacts differently to the medications.

The best thing to do is write down any questions your mother or you have and arrange to go with her to see her oncologist. The doctor can then provide you with the answers rather than you worrying unnecessarily.

I pray your mother has a speedy recovery and that all your small stuff goes away.

I'm sorry. I hope that some brighter days are on the way!

I'm sorry :sad2:
Sometimes it all gets pretty overwhelming I know. Have a good cry, wipe those tears and put one foot in front of the other for now. And tell hubby to give you a break too...we all slip up sometimes.
I hope the days ahead get better for you..

Keep that chin up :wave2:

:butterfly :flower1: Play the song and watch the video, pd is on the right track! No cookies but it's a start. Warm cc cookies DO sound good. It's rainy here and I'm in the mood to cook. If I was anywhere nearby, I'd bring you some. Close your eyes and you may be able to smell them. BTW, I could send my husband who works 60-70 hours a week to teach your husband how to cook. :rotfl: You've got a lot going on and cooking is NOT a priority to anyone but him, eh? Can of soup never hurt anyone. Can he pour milk over cereal? I'm sure he doesn't get how freaked out you are. :wave2: Tell him.

I'm sorry things aren't going well. I hope your mother is feeling better soon. Chocolate chip cookies and a movie sound like a great idea! Take care.
