Could I REALLY have to pay rack rate?

We are planning our first Disney trip next year at the very end of February with our 5 and 9 year old children. I have been watching these boards and gathering a lot of info from them. I have read about the great prices that everybody seems to be able to get. I called and made a reservation at POFQ due to all the good comments I have read on these boards. At first I was quoted some outrageous figure, but after talking to the CM for awhile, he said he could give me $159/night rate. Still much higher than what I have read about, but we really want to go. Today, I received in the mail a letter saying that the rate has been raised to $194/night. Please, please, please tell me I won't have to pay that much, I don't think I could convince DH to spend that much. Any advice/comments greatly appreciated!

Lucy, more than likely, Disney will come out with some discount codes before your trip. Because of the time of year you are going, those codes will not come out until the end of the year. Keep watching mousesavers.com, allearsnet.com as well as this great board and you will see codes released a few months before your trip.

Also, you are going at peak season I believe, so you may not see codes released until a month or two before you are scheduled to go. You can call back at anytime and modify your resort stay with a code.

Here are the prices of 2005 from www.wdwig.com

Looks like you have a water view or king room?

2005 ROOM RATES
Tax not Included

Room Type Value
1/1-2/16 8/28-9/28
11/2-12/19
Regular 4/17-8/27
9/29-11/1 Peak
2/17-4/16 Holiday
12/20 - 12/31
Standard View, Standard Room $ 133 $ 144 $ 169 $ 184
Water View, Standard Room $ 148 $ 159 $ 194 $ 209
King Bed Room $ 148 $ 159 $ 194 $ 209

Since you'll have no private balcony I'd most likely change my room to "standard view".

I do not believe 2005 rates have been released. Maybe this is a typo on Deb's page. Per Disney, there are no 2005 and rates at this time. They book tentatively on 2004 rates and warn that there could be increases.

Well, unless rates were released today. I called yesterday and was told no 2005 rates, call back in August.

Do you have AAA? AAA discounts are generally around 10-15% off rack rate. You can apply this for now. Then when/if the codes come out, apply the new code.

Watch mousesavers.com (There is also an area with all the historical code information so you can see the trend.)

Enjoy your trip!

I made a reservation for April, 2005 about a month and a half ago...they gave me the 2004 rate and told me that when the 2005 rate comes out, the room would be that amount...received a notice from Disney just this past week that the 2005 rates were out and what the difference was in price...sooo...I do believe the 2005 rates are set. I would call CRO and double check with them about the rate and keep waiting for a code of some kind to be released. Good luck!!

Thank you for that info Ibelieveinfaries. The CM I spoke to yesterday told me that no rates for 2005 were released yet and I could always verify that with the website. Boy, somebody sure has their "lions" crossed. I will call back and ask em in the Randy Jackson way, wha'suup?

I stand corrected. :jester: Just called Disney and the very nice CM said that they have been released....and even better......NO INCREASES!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I just made an March 2005 reservation on Wed. They do have the 2005 rates.

I think that it's important to note that when you call CRO and make a reservation to specify that you want a standard room. (if you're looking to keep your rate lower). When I called in April for an August trip at the Pop Century, I got quoted a preferred room rate automatically. Good thing I had done my homework, because I knew that was the rate for preferred room...and I had to specifically tell the CM that i didn't need that room , and that the standard room would be fine...and WA LA....my rate went down $10.00.

Rates at Value did go up for 2005. Mine went up about 2.00 a night for 5 nights at Pop. I got the revised conformation in the mail today.
