Could I have asked for something more?

People actually take "hundreds" of pictures on their vacations??? To each his own but personally, I find it annoying to constantly stop and take a picture of every single thing we see. As of matter of fact, we forgot our camera and movie camera last vacation, there were no tears, I picked up 2 disposable cameras and we took some pictues. To me, it's just too much of a distraction to be constantly taking pictures. Always people walking in front of the camera etc. I just don't find it enjoyable. We have pictues and some movies from every trip but we don't take pictures everyday of the vacation.

Everyone is different though. I don't take movies on vacation (unless it is with the camera or phone for something quick) but I do take 500+ pictures on a Disney trip. I average about 10GB of pictures per year of my kids, family and friends. I then make photo books and everyone loves coming over and looking at them! I like my pictures. I also love Photopass because I actually am in pictures then!

I take thousands of pictures. Disney usually falls in to "hundreds", but we went to San Diego in May- that fell in to thousands because who knows when we'll ever get to go back there? I wanted to make sure I had beautiful pictures of what we saw. It didn't slow us down and my husband didn't seem to find it annoying. Like another poster, I don't take videos at all. I'm not going to sit down and watch those. To each their own.

Is it just me who NEVER uses Photopass? Why pay money for shots you can take yourself? I just have a regular point and click camera and have taken so many great photos with it... Even if there is a Photopass person there, I have never paid for their service. I just take my own photos... Yeah, that means I'm not in a lot of the pics, but oh well.

We never use photo pass. Or at least, I've never purchased it. Sometimes I'll give it to a photographer to take our picture, or I'll just ask a stranger to take a picture of us. Our holiday cards are with pictures from our vacations, so they are always pictures taken by strangers. Frankly, I find those to almost always be better than any taken by a photopass photographer.

Yes, I do. I love taking pictures and have a good camera. It's fun for me. I make photo books of our vacations, plus I put the pictures on my business website and Facebook pages.

Our trips consist of 9 park days. Very easy to get hundreds of pictures in that amount of time.

I take hundreds of pictures too. But I'm brutal when I cull down. I only have a couple dozen where the kids are the focus. The rest are just cool "things" that I love the look of. World Showcase stuff, murals, displays, that sort of thing. Cool plants in AK. Performers. Fountains. :goodvibes I end up taking maybe 5 pics of the same thing, and then keep the best shot. It makes me happy to go through them. And some shots turn out to be fantabulous. :)

I have never met a larger bunch of opinionated people in my life!!! The OP just felt frustrated and I don't blame her. Everytime we have gotten pictures taken with characters there has always been a photopass person there.

I don't blame her for not wanting to lug around her camera all day. It's a total PIA. Obviously she paid alot of money for photopass and was disappointed by them. The poor lady can't even vent without people disciplining her on here.

To the people who say,

"photopass isn't so you don't have to bring your camera, it's so you can get your whole family in the picture". How the heck do you know what photopass was invented for. Is that in writing somewhere. As far as photopass being to "get your whole family in the picture", we have guests take pictures of our family all the time and hve taken pictures for others. I really shake my head when I read some of the responses on here, they can't wait to say, "you are the one at fault"!!!!!

Yup! And it's generally the same cast of characters who are just itching to pull the holier than thou card. God forbid anyone should phrase something without thoroughly vetting it with a focus group first. I never knew how many perfect people there were in the world until I started reading comments on the DIS. You'll find people who have read the entire WDW web site and every minor detail it contains so if someone misstates something they can jump right on them. You'll also find people who can divine with absolute certainty the exact reason why WDW does something or creates something. A casual visitor to the DIS (i.e. not a DIS head - take that how you will) has a 50/50 shot of either getting assistance or getting taken to task by the "experts". And whatever you do, DO NOT misspell something or use improper grammar when posting - you've been warned.

To the OP (who I'm sure has long since realized the futility of any more discussion), sorry you had a bad day. I can totally understand how folks who pre-pay for PhotoPass would expect to have photographers available and not need a camera. I'm sure you're not the first nor will you be the last WDW visitor to think that or have that expectation. The folks on here sometimes/usually forget that not everyone has been to WDW 67 times and may just be a typical WDW visitor who goes one or twice - like 99.9% of the rest of the world.

(rule #1...why do people keep forgetting to quote the OP???)

What "something more" could you possibly have asked for???:confused3

I think you asked the CM everything you could have. There was nothing else she could say or do. As mentioned, it is always best to take your own camera into the parks. There are far too many magical Disney moments to be had to not have your camera handy. There are characters that rarely have a Photopass photographer ever, and even the ones that usually do are still not guaranteed to have one every single time. The most important thing is that they got to meet Rapunzel and get her autograph.:goodvibes
Since most people are responding to the OP, why bother quoting that post??? If I'm responding to something else, I will quote it...as in below.

I use it on 'most' trips. I don't buy it ahead of time though. I have found a few shots that PhotoPass people have taken that have been very, very good. The majority have not been all that wonderful. I will order the few that I like, then scan them at home.

But, here's the thing. While there are usually plenty of PhotoPass people around, I still bring my camera..every single time. I have it on a lanyard, so it's not a pain to carry. I make my dd, now 18, a scrapbook via Shutterfly, every few years. I have some incredible shots from the parks. I wouldn't have had those if I had not had my camera with me..and no, they aren't all shots that PhotoPass could have taken. I used to take hundreds upon hundreds of photos. I'm down to about 80 or so per trip, if that. If I'm on a solo trip??? Even fewer. But, I do like to have shots taken of the group I am with at any given moment. I have found CMs to be very good about taking shots for us..it's actually funny to see the CM with about 12 cameras!!!

I'm sorry the OP had such a disappointment. It's too bad that Disney gets us accustomed to having PhotoPass there, and then, when we count on using them, no one it there to take that important shot. I would be disappointed as well. But, after many trips to WDW??? I have learned to control my own vacation. I have my camera and my phone handy at all times. I try not to use the cellphone very often...just in case I need it later in the say. That battery always seems to wear down just when I need the phone the most!!!

I have taken photos for other guests, people I don't know. I have sent them a copy of the shot via email. Has always worked out fine. But, I can understand not wanting to ask the person behind you in line if they will do that. That's really something that should be offered first, not asked for.

Can't argue with much that you've posted. It is, sad to say, pretty true. But, the one thing that I have seen here, after many years on these boards.....when people come along with their advice, they are sometimes trying to give the advice so that other people won't have the same issue the OP did. And yes, it can sometimes come across as 'what kind of an idiot does that?', when it wasn't intended that way at all.

I hope that my previous post comes across as helpful and not judgmental... I don't mean it to be judgmental at all...just trying to give some info so others don't find themselves in the same situation. You're right...not everyone goes to WDW 67 times. I've only been 30+ times...sorry, couldn't resist!! I have made many mistakes while at WDW....I wish there had been someplace like this when I first started going to WDW...I wouldn't have made the same mistakes!! And man, some of them were doozies.....like, heading to Splash Mt , on a Saturday, around 2:30pm!! Yeah, that was a short wait...only about 2.5 hrs in line!!!!!

A gentle thought for those of you who hate having your picture taken from someone who hates having their picture taken:

Your kids don't care what you look like in a photo...or your friends...they only care that you are in the photo.

My DIL loved having her picture taken so we have lots of her and since she died in early May, those pictures will become extraordinarily precious to Tosha. We had at least 10 scrapbooks of pictures of her at her memorial service and it was a blessing to have them. We could have made more.

When I used to scrapbook, many people hated their own handwriting so would only use the computer for journaling. Sasha didn't and because of that Tosha will have things her mommy wrote in her baby book in her own handwriting.

Again, just a gentle thought, OK?

I was referring to OP's original post. When you are the first to reply to a new thread, you are supposed to quote the first post so if the OP deletes it people know what the thread was about. The people that posted before me didn't quote it, so I did.:confused3

Thank you for saying this, goofy4tink. I was beginning to think that I was the only one who didn't see the point in quoting the OP.

I think they are asking for the original post to be quoted early on because frequently the OP goes back and edits or deletes it.

Didn't know this 'rule' of posting. Of course, then again, if a poster decides to delete their post, it probably means that they no longer want their 'business' discussed!! And of course, we all know what people here think of that...I mean, it is a 'public forum' where individual thoughts and feelings don't count. If a poster deletes their original post, then why the need to continue discussing it??? Not trying to be argumentative here...just curious as to how different people feel.

I completely understand the OPs frustration in this case. We had a frustrating situation happen many many years ago with a character and I still think about it once in awhile when I see families waiting on those long lines for pictures.

When my son was 2.5 years (now is almost 20) and we waited on a very long hot line to get a picture with the Beast (Beauty and the Beast) right in front of us were a group of adults taking pictures of themselves individually with the Beast and wouldn't you know right after they were done and we were next, the handler grabs the Beast and says sorry the Beast has to leave now. I could not believe it that they left a little boy who waited in the heat (it was early September) for a long time just standing there, not understanding. :confused3 I felt terrible for my son, but do understand they have restrictions on the amount of time that they are outside and need to get inside and cool off, I am sure. It was just so unfortunate for us that it was just as my little guy was due up there for his picture and we had no prior warning that this would happen soon. The three of us were like, what?

I have to agree I guess there was nothing else that could have been done in your situation other than what many have suggested with texting or emailing a picture to your phone from someone else's phone. I do totally understand your feelings of disappointment for your girls. Sorry this happened to you.

Looks like we posted at about the same time. I can understand about quoting a post since some people like to go back and change something they said. Completely understand that. I just thought that the 'rule' meant that you had to quote the OP automatically. So, if one person does it, okay. But then it's been quoted..no one else has to worry. Just didn't understand the 'thought' behind this. I still say that once someone goes and either deletes a post, or changes the intent, the thread should be done. But, that's just me..and this has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the subject at hand..so I do apologize.

No, I get what you're saying. I don't have a feeling one way or another on it, just wanted to help explain.

Sometimes I think an OP gets so ganged up and bashed that it would be nice if they had the option of going back and deleting their post and bowing out. Other times (like if you call people without kids waiting in character lines "horrific") then I think it's nice to have that quoted somewhere so everyone can judge for themselves what all the fuss was about.

I have found that when an OP is deleted it is generally because the OP does not like the response. I get that. I also have found that there are times when the OP decides to defend the position by editing the original post to reflect that defense. This is where having the OP quoted is really helpful.
