Could Disney have a little consideration for DVC Members

I actually think DVD members have come out ahead here.

We have the same two passes as before the Platinum and the platinum plus with the same benefits as before. Ok there is a price increase but it is not a DVC price increase price has gone up for everyone.

DVC now have the benefit of choosing a new lower price ticket the Gold which is cheaper but the downside is it has blackout dates. Great for anyone who doesn't travel Easter for Christmas.

I really don't get hoe disney is showing lack of consideration for DVC members in particular, any guests who buy annual passes are impacted, DVC members who can buy Gold are impacted less than the general public.

True prices went up for all guests, but I can surely see why people are upset about that much of an increase to get the same features they were used to getting with the old traditinal AP and PAP......Not just dvc members but all guests. I can ALSO see why it does impact dvc guests that have trips planned in two months. In order to visit the parks during blackout dates they will need to pay an additional 127.80 more per person in their party.

People will definitely pay the price for the AP and some years, I may also choose to do so when it works for my vacations planned.
Not sure if the price of the AP and or park tickets has anything to do with my decision to buy into DVC or if that was even what you were referring to. After 4 trips to WDW in 11 months, I won't need the AP because I haven't yet decided what I will be doing with next years points. IF there was a really good deal on the AP it may have swayed me into purchasing one for my November trip...but since there isn't, a 3 day park hopper, it is. We are also the type that don't always go park commando, so a trip without passes works sometimes too. To be disappointed in the price increases for myself and for everyone else doesn't mean that I'm no longer a good candidate for owning/purchasing DVC. (I may be reading more into your post, as it sounds like you have read more into mine).

I am not farmiliar with what Disney ticket medial is.
Media, sorry for the typo. My point was more general not specifically addressed to your situation. There has been several themes here that include complaints on the timing and on the price increases. And I'm pointing out that these are the risks one assumes when they decide to participate. And that possibly buying extra tickets ahead might be a good thing, I know I've done so as have others.

A very good point, in my view DVC and Disney saved many members much of the increase leaving out only a very small % of members who would mostly go during the blackout times AND get an AP.

But how will renewing go should one with a certain type of AP wants to change to another- full fare renewal?

.

I understand now. Thanks for clarifying. I had done a Google search of Disney ticket medial and the first thing that popped up was that members of the media may qualify for two 1 day park hoppers every 12 months. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how that pertained to me or the majority of people on here.
Anyway, I will definitely keep that advice in mind for the future.

That was kinda my point I see that all guests are upset at the level of price hike but I see no particular reason for DVC guests specifically to be any more upset than any other guest who planned on buying an AP and many have less reason to be upset. DVC have not been singled out here. Anyone who plans a trip and leaves buying passes until just before takes the risk that prices will go up before they travel.

This is not a DVC issue. When guests with trips planned, planned those trips the Gold pass wasn't an option so black out dates don't apply. The only reason to be upset here is the price hike in the annual passes normally offered and price hikes unfortunately are as certain as death and taxes. The alternatives to price hikes is another global recession and frankly most people are better off in jobs with high inflation than unemployed due to another world recession.

One other thing... there is no reason for a company to announce a price change before they actually make the price change.

If prices are going to go up you are raising prices because you think that people would pay that price and want the extra profit. But if you announce the price change first then people will buy before the price change and you lose out on some profit. Then when the change does go into affect you have lower sales for a period of time as everyone uses those pass they got in advance.

If you are going to lower prices you are probably doing so becuase not enough people are buying at the current price. Announcing that your going to lower prices in X time will just make everyone who was thinking of buying wait until then, which means even less people are buying then they would have before.

Disney has no obligation to keep prices the same for people that have previously booked vacations. This is the risk you take in waiting to buy stuff, yes it means you can keep your money and get a bit of interest in the mean time but you risk that a price change will make you lose out by much more.

I'm not sure that argument holds for annual passes, though. It does work for the regular tickets, buy them as soon as you can and lock in the price, but annual passes you typically don't renew until it's time. And by then you've got two more DVC trips booked, etc. So it really does increase the cost of future trips already booked, where the person typically would not have renewed or purchased a new pass if their current one hasn't expired yet.

The way you get around the blockout dates at DL for new APs is you purchase a 5-day ticket and use it on the blockout dates. Then, on the last day, you upgrade to AP. You could probably do something similar at WDW.

Don't know if that will work at WDW. I do know that if you bought a ticket with WP&M and used one fo those options before upgrading you had to upgrade to a Premium AP. I would think that if you used the ticket during blackout dates that they would make you upgrade to an AP that had no blackout dates.
