Could a E-signature glitch save us 2 years worth of dues?

Here's the story:

So in November 2019, while on vacation, we bought 100 Rivera points directly from Disney. About two weeks after we returned home, our agent messaged us to let us know that there was a glitch in the system and one of our electronic signatures was not captured.

Because of Florida real estate laws, as Canadians, we actually need to be in the US to sign the papers. This wasn't a big deal because we had a trip planned for the early fall of 2020. Our DVC guy assured us that our points would still be available to use and that our membership card was valid. The only snag was that we would not be able to pay our annual dues until the paperwork was officially signed and the contract was closed.

Of course, Covid hit! After four canceled trips and two and a half years later, we finally made it down earlier this month and resigned the papers.

Today, the contract officially closed! I went online this afternoon to pay our dues. Anticipating a $2000.00+ bill, I was shocked that the amount owed was only $515.00.

Here's the Question:

Is it possible Disney could not legally charge us for any dues accruing before the contract was closed?

Possible, sure. I wouldn't chase them down either. Did you ever use any points from the earlier years or did you lose them?

I don't think you are going to have to pay them, but if you ever get Rex the dinosaur error when trying to book, check your dues page.

Dues are from the time you agree To purchase snd not when it closes. So it iis possible you’d owe. However, if the system doesn’t show it, then I’d see what will happen but I’d still plan that you might get that bill.

For sure! I have the money set aside in gift cards, expecting this is just something that will eventually be remedied.

But who knows. They certainly seemed pretty anxious for us to come down and sign those papers, lol.

Either way, all the things that were in place when we originally bought in, annual passes, magical express, fast passes, TIWL, etc., have and will continue to cost us more than that anyway. The big mouse will get his money one way or another.

It sounds like a system error. Consider yourself lucky, but be prepared that they may eventually send you a bill.

I'd go dig up the original contract. I'd bet 2020 was already in the close. They do that for resale in November or December. Maybe you got out of 2021 though!

This was a direct purchase. They do not put the dues on the closing statement, even for December.
