The saga is long but has a (probable) happy ending but I do need to vent.
I live in the middle of nowhere PA. I understand that but this should NOT have happened.
Back in Aug., 8/19 to be exact I found my dream sleeper sofa in Pottery Barn. They were one of the few places that said that they could deliver to PA for me (I was still in NY at the time) without a hassel. I was overjoyed even though the couch was about $1,300 more a couch from Jennifer Convertables or JC Penny (both stores wouldn't deliver to the area).
I ordered it and was told 8-10 weeks for delivery.
Last week the trucking company called and said "Thursday or Friday". I told the woman that it had to be after 4pm on Thursday but I was free all day on Friday. She made a note in my file.
Yesterday afternoon I get a phone call from the trucking company. "We will be there between 12 and 4 on Thursday"
(who knew that was coming). "Nope" was my response, I had already told them that I couldn't be there. "Tough" was their response, "your only option is between 12 and 4 on Thursday because you are the last delivery of the day and we aren't staying in the area another day"
So I called Pottery Barn and discussed it with them. They put another note in for the trucking company. Told me to call the trucking company tomorrow (this morning).
I call the trucking company this morning and I get the same response "delivery between 12 and 4 tomorrow". I speak to a supervisor who states that they are only in the area every two weeks. Well two weeks from now is Thanksgiving so no deliveries and then it would be two weeks later which is four weeks from now. And they cant guarantee that it wont be another "Thursday 12-4" which I definitely cant be there for because I have class (graduate student). Besides, if I am waiting another four weeks sitting on the floor of my apartment like I have been doing for the past 2.5 months I might as well be waiting for a couch I know I can have delivered! The supervisor of the trucking company understood but couldn't help me.
So I call the Pottery Barn Store in NY where I bought the couch because they are going to be the ones losing money if I return the darn thing because I can't have it delivered at 4pm when I can be in my apartment.
A million people working on it, many phone calls, a few hours later, and a ton of aggrevation, Pottery Barn is going to pay the drivers to sit around until 4pm so that I can get my couch tomorrow.
I will update tomorrow once I have my couch.
I have to applaud Pottery Barn for working this whole thing out appropriately.
Sorry this was long!
