Cots in Grand Californian

Are you allowed to have a cot in a room with two queen beds? We have two adults and two teens and it is just so much better with three beds. I really don't want to have to pay the extra $400/night to get an adjoining room.

Sleeping bags and cushions are available on request, so I'm sure you could get one of those regardless of which type of room they put you in. You could also request a room with one queen bed and a set of bunk beds instead of two queen beds before you go. We also have two adults and two kids and that's the room type we're hoping to get!

I'll admit that the queen bed with the bunk bed option is often an excellent choice. However, I thought I'd remind everyone that the bunk beds are short and accomodate people 5'2" and shorter. If anyone has any other experiences with this please let me know.

I wouldn't want a family with two tall teens to insist on a room with bunk beds and then not have it work for them!

My daughter could probably fit in the bunks but that would be it. When we were staying in LA last year, the hotel would not let us have a cot because they said that there was a law that there could not be more than two beds in a hotel room. I don't know if this law extends to Anaheim or not.

The Grand Californian Hotel does not provide cots or roll-away beds. As Aggie96 said, you can request a sleeping bag and cushions. But that means that somebody will have to sleep on the floor.

I'm not sure what the legality of more than two beds in a room is but I do know from experience that the hotel does not have removable beds as an option.

Have you thought of taking an air mattress? We have a few Coleman air mattresses, intended for camping, that fold very small when deflated. We use the Coleman battery operated pump and the mattresses inflate in 3-4 minutes. The twin size mattress & pump will fit into a large shoebox when deflated & folded.

We have used an air mattress in many hotels. It's nice because you can deflate it & fold it up first thing in the morning and then it isn't in the way.

We will be in California for 10 days but only at Disney for two and that is the only hotel that would require us to have the air mattress. I hate to lug it all that way just for two nights.

By cushions, does anyone know what they mean? Are they adequate for sleeping on?

I would describe the cushions as padded mats. Very similar to the pads you might bring with you camping and place under your sleeping bag inside your tent. I don't think they necessarily restrict how many you can request, so you might want to ask for a few.

Please note that when the sleeping bag is set out, you will have limited walkways in the room, depending on where you set it. There's a little bit of room to place the sleeping bag at the foot of the beds, a little bit of room between the two beds and some extra room in the entry of the room (although that might restrict access to the bathroom).

If someone doesn't mind sleeping in a sleeping bag on the floor, you won't have that much of a problem. If you are looking for it to be as nice as another bed, it won't be. If it is a concern, you might want to get two rooms or upgrade to a suite with enough beds for your party.
